The 2020 class has a lot of top heavy talent at the forward and center positions, but the 2021 brings a lot more depth and versatility from top to bottom. Many of these prospects are completely under the radar, or haven’t quite blown up yet on the recruiting scene, but we are one step ahead at Prep Girls Hoops!
Sophomore Forward/Center Prospects, Part 1:
2021 6’2 PF Katie Penueta (Heritage HS/Team Northwest) – Versatile forward with good natural ability. Playing up on the 17u Nike EYBL with Team Northwest. Strong body that can block shots and provide a strong inside presence.
2021 6’2 PF Trista Hull (La Salle HS/NW Blazers) – People that don’t follow small schools may not know Trista, as she plays the 1A level, but she is a legitimate 6’2 forward with a versatile skill set. State Tourney MVP and State Champion as a sophomore. She is attracting a lot of Division 1 schools in her first year on the adidas circuit.
2021 6’2 PF Katie Thiers (Roosevelt HS/Team Northwest) – Strong body at the 4 position with the ability to play some 5 as well. Blocks shots, aggressive rebounder and runs the floor well. Clear D1 prospect.
2021 5’10 PF Mia Hughes (Woodinville HS/Way to Win) – The smallest girl on this list may have the best motor out of everyone. She has good lateral foot movement and good hands to help her make up for her lack of size. She’s had a lot of success at the high school level and has some D1 interest.
2021 6’4 C Allie Andrew (Ridgefield HS) – One of the highest ceilings in the class! A super shot blocker and all around rim protector. Her offensive skill set is a work in progress, but she regularly scores in double figures in high school due to her length and rebounding ability on put backs. Good amount of natural talent. *Feature Image
2021 6’3 C Charity Hines (Steilacoom HS/Team Northwest) – Strong post presence that provides a legit put back threat and rim protection on defense. Playing up on the 17u EYBL with Team Northwest.
2021 6’3 C Samantha Skaggs (Bellevue Christian HS) – Left handed post player that is very comfortable inside the paint. Scores on put backs and has a solid drop step. Mostly under the radar on national scene, but a solid college prospect!
