The 5’8’’ Point Guard will be attending Benet Academy and brings a really mature style of play with her. Playing at the 16U level as an 8th grader has given her a good idea about what to expect at the high school level.
When asked about how the season was going so far for her, Lenee said “The AAU Season has started off good. We won our first two USJN Tournaments. Individually, I think I have done a decent job of getting my teammates open and making the right plays. I have been playing 16U, so I also need to continue to work on getting stronger and quicker.”
As more of a ‘pass-first’ PG, Lenee can handle the ball as well as, if not better, than anyone in her class. She’s got great court vision to set up her teammates with open looks. Aside from handling the ball, Lenee can also really shoot the three. She moves well without the ball and has a quick release with her shot. When I asked Lenee what she sees as her strengths, she mentioned “Passing, scoring, taking the ball to the basket, and three-point shooting”.
Lenee already has a great understanding of the game, and it really shows that it moves at a slower pace for her, which is really impressive for her age. For what she’s looking to add to her game this offseason, Lenee mentioned “getting quicker and stronger to be more of an impact on defense and rebounding. I also want to continue to work on my offensive moves.”
What’s going on in recruiting?
“I don’t have any offers yet, but I do have several schools interested, including some D1 schools in the south and some local schools as well.”
Lenee is a combo guard that can handle the ball as well as she can shoot it, and that will impress a lot of coaches for such a young athlete. Playing at the 16U level with a great organization like the Chicago Power will give her great experience before competing at the high school level.
