Over the last month several post players have made significant strides in stepping up their games. This isn't limited to post only players but, players that play the post a significant time with their teams. Here are some of the top bigs we've seen lately.
<span style="text-decoration: underline"><span style="color: #800000"><strong>Janae Dublin - 6'2" - 2020 - Elevate Elite</strong></span></span>
[caption id="attachment_39676" align="alignnone" width="300"] Janae Dublin[/caption]
Janae is an efficient post player using her speed to spin off defenders with her back to the basket. She is deadly from the high post and can start the break or go coast to coast off of the rebound. She is efficient at the wing which will most likely be her natural position, however, she is versatile enough to go spurts at the point guard position for short periods.
<span style="text-decoration: underline"><span style="color: #800000"><strong>Sydney Avoletta - 6'3" - 2020 - Loudoun Flight</strong></span></span>
[caption id="attachment_70131" align="alignnone" width="300"] Sydney Avoletta[/caption]
Sydney is a really good finisher from anywhere in the lane. She runs the floor really well and has a knack for finding open gaps in the zone. She has a really nice touch and range from beyond the arc.
<span style="text-decoration: underline"><span style="color: #800000"><strong>McKenna Rife - 6'3" - 2021 - Elevate Elite</strong></span></span>
McKenna makes the trip from Pennsylvania to play with Elevate Elite's 16u team. She has good size inside and a nice touch around the basket. She is showing the ability to stretch the floor with her shooting and put the ball on the floor. She is heading into her senior year at St. Maria Gorretti and as she continue to make strides in her game she can be amongst the top bigs in the class.
<span style="text-decoration: underline"><span style="color: #800000"><strong>Jazmine King - 6'3" - 2020 - Team Sol</strong></span></span>
[caption id="attachment_70139" align="alignnone" width="300"] Jazmine King[/caption]
Jazmine is strong down low and uses her strength to clear out space for rebounds. She finishes well on the put back after the offensive board. As her conditioning improves she will be effective for longer stretches in games.
<span style="text-decoration: underline"><span style="color: #800000"><strong>Elze Motekaityte - 6'4" - 2020 - New Hope Academy</strong></span></span>
[caption id="attachment_69741" align="alignnone" width="300"] Elze Motekaityte[/caption]
Elze is long and she has excellent three point range. Her length and wingspan makes her a disruptive defender in the lane as she alters most shots. She runs the floor well and is a mismatch offensively when she drifts to the perimeter because she can shoot over smaller defenders. Getting stronger and improving her lateral movement will make her nearly unstoppable.
<span style="text-decoration: underline"><span style="color: #800000"><strong>Tatiana Popa - 6'6" - 2021 - Team Takeover</strong></span></span>
[caption id="attachment_70135" align="alignnone" width="300"] Tatiana Popa[/caption]
Tatiana has WNBA size and is agile and shifty in tight spaces. She has the physical tools to be a dominant force nationally. Strengthening her core will be beneficial in the long run as she's going to get banged around by shorter defenders trying to push her out of position.
