Players who can bring in rebounds create extra possessions for their team and take them away from the other team. Being a great rebounder requires a combination of skill, hustle, and natural ability. Here are some of the top rebounders in Kentucky’s class of 2021.
Kenzie Maynard, Belfry – Maynard was incredibly impressive crashing the boards last season, averaging 11.3 boards per game, far above anyone else on this list. She was a force inside all year, frequently dominating the paint, and her game should only get better moving forward.
Kelsie Woodard, Menifee County – Woodard was also a force inside last year, taking advantage of her 6’1” height. She averaged 8.9 rebounds a game and actually tied Maynard in overall rebounds because she played more games. If she can continue to improve her inside game, she’ll cement her status as one of the top post players in the state.
Katie Moore, Floyd Central – Despite not having the size of others on this list, Moore was able to crash the boards with the best in the state last season. Her 8.4 boards per game are especially impressive considering her size and position and should continue to be a strength moving forward.
Mya Meredith, Scott – Meredith’s rebounding prowess is part of an all-around phenomenal game. As a star player for Scott, she averaged 8.0 rebounds as part of an all-around fantastic season. As one of the top juniors in the state, expect Meredith to continue her strong rebounding this season.
Sophie Galloway, Graves County – One of the more underrated players on this list, Galloway was nonetheless great on the boards last season. She averaged 7.8 rebounds per game, combining good size with hustle and timing. Her natural rebound prowess should make her someone to watch going forward.
Kenady Tompkins, Scott County – Tompkins was a big part of Scott County’s Sweet Sixteen run last season. She hauled in 7.5 boards per game, making her the top rebounder for the 11th region champions. Her ability to pull down rebounds will be a key to her team repeating their impressive run.
