Kentucky Freshman Showcase: Team 2 Evaluations

Here's a look at my evaluations from Team 2 at the Kentucky Freshman Showcase. Each player stood out in their own way and showed plenty of potential throughout the event.    Breckinridge County had several players who stood out at the Freshman Showcase, and one of them was [player_tooltip player_id='1879010' first='Alea' last='Hardesty']. She's a really good shooter and she made good on her opportunities from behind the arc, draining multiple threes in the game I watched and looked comfortable off the catch. Alea also showed good awareness on the defensive end, particularly with her help-side defense.     I watched Ava for the first time back in June, so it was good getting another look at her at the Freshman Showcase. She's a very poised point guard who you can trust with the ball in her hands and rarely looks rushed. Ava keeps her head up, scans the floor, and does a good job finding teammates in transition. She's also a sneaky good rebounder from the guard position and isn't afraid to crash the boards.     Moore has some talented underclassmen on its roster, especially when you factor in [player_tooltip player_id='1895608' first='Vaniyah' last='Tiller']. She couldn't miss against Team 1 in the first 5-on-5 game, she drained several shots from long range, playing with unwavering confidence and showing she can do the heavy lifting on offense for her team.     I've watched Elly on numerous occasions since the high school season, and she continues to deliver. She looked really good creating off the dribble, using her speed to turn the corner quickly and get to the basket. She showed the ability to finish with either hand at the rim and also displayed a really pretty stroke from downtown, making her a threat to score at multiple levels.     Kynsey was one of the better post players I saw on Saturday. A left-handed forward and enforcer in the paint, she did a great job grabbing rebounds and finishing plays around the rim. Kynsey also made her presence felt defensively with a big-time rejection and showed she can push the ball up the floor on the fast break.     Leighton is a strong-framed forward who can contribute in a variety of ways. She flashed a nice shooting touch from the mid-range, brought plenty of physicality as an interior defender, and I loved her activity on the glass on both ends.     A long and lanky guard/wing, Tatum can flat-out shoot the basketball and uses her length to her advantage on the boards. She has good upside and will be another talented piece joining an already impressive roster at Bethlehem. (Featured Image)     Andersen has good size and is the type of player who brings equal energy and effort on both ends of the floor. She plays hard, competes on every possession, and is willing to do whatever it takes to help her team win.     Ava is a lengthy guard and a really good perimeter scorer, and a knockdown shooter who can stretch the floor and make defenses pay from the outside. I really like her game and she is a player to watch for at Paducah Tilghman.     It had been a while since I had seen Nanalee in action, and I noticed a lot of growth in her game. She showed her ability to shoot the three, made strong cuts to the basket, and finished well off two feet in transition. Nanalee also showed her strength around the rim, finishing through contact and playing with confidence on the offensive end.
