Kentucky Freshman Showcase: Team 6 Leaves Its Mark

Team 6 was a talented group that left a strong impression on the scouts, coaches, and spectators in attendance. This concludes my coverage of the Kentucky Freshman Showcase, an event that provided a great first look at some of the talent and potential in Kentucky's Class of 2030.    Cailyn was one of the many lead guards who caught my eye at the Freshman Showcase. A shifty and crafty ball handler, she can break down defenders off the dribble and get to the rim. She's also a good perimeter shooter, which makes her really hard to guard. Cailyn also a natural playmaker who thrives on getting others involved. (Featured Image)     I was in awe getting an in-person look at Kenley for the first time, and she was as good as advertised. She's athletic with a quick second jump and is explosive on the boards, constantly cashing in on second-chance opportunities. Kenley doesn't mind doing the dirty work inside, and she has an excellent mid-range game and can elevate over defenders to knock down shots.     Sydney is another freshman that represented the 16th Region. She can play multiple positions and is a fundamentally sound player who plays the game the right way. She's strong with the ball, looks to get her teammates involved, and does a good job sprinting the floor in transition. Sydney showed she can score at multiple levels, driving hard to the rack to draw a foul and connecting on a three-pointer as well.     Somer is a good-sized guard with a gorgeous stroke from three. She's the type of shooter who can fill it up from the outside and can get hot in a hurry. She was one of the best shooters I saw at the Freshman Showcase, which says a lot considering how many snipers we had in the building. Expect to see a big jump in her production this season for LCA.     Rachel stood out with her effort and how hard she played throughout the showcase. She did a fantastic job filling the lanes in transition and was rewarded with an easy bucket. She's also a very capable scorer from the perimeter. Rachel has the tools to make an impact for St. Mary this season.     Watching Scarlett, it doesn't take long to see that she oozes potential. She showed off her deep range, and her shot looked effortless coming off her hand. She's a very heady and skilled guard who can create off the dribble, get to the basket, and finish at a high level around the rim. Scarlett was another player who proved to be every bit as good as advertised.     Havyn is a left-handed guard who is comfortable playing both on and off the ball, she can stretch the floor with her ability to make shots from distance. She has a good understanding of the game and doesn't force the issue, the type of player you can trust in crunch time. She is poised to take on a bigger role for Perry Central this season.     Brielle is a smaller guard but has nice length. She's a floor spacer with deep catch-and-shoot range and can make defenses pay for leaving her open. She's also a solid ball handler and passer who showed good potential on the defensive end with her length and activity.     Lyndee has good size and a nice mix of physicality and finesse to her game. She plays with a high motor, isn't afraid to wear the hard hat down low, and does a good job holding her ground defensively. She's the type of player who's going to give you maximum effort every time she steps between the lines.
