Sela is the state’s tallest college prospect at 6’8 and she brings some serious shot altering defensive ability. Due to an unfortunate kneecap injury, she had to sit out the summer, but she is still on many Division 1 school’s radars. Sela suited up for Tree of Hope for her final spring season after spending many years with the Friends of Hoop program. I had the chance to catch up with Sela following the summer and talk with her about when she plans to sign and what she is looking for in a college.
Interview:
1) How would you describe your recruitment process so far?
“I would describe my recruiting process as exciting and also stressful. It’s been really cool to see that all of my hard work has paid off and that the goal I have had set for myself for most of my life is achievable. It’s also been a stressful process just because of my recent surgery. I didn’t know how coaches would react and I also missed out on playing in July, but I’ve gotten positive feedback and am already getting back to work in physical therapy.”
2) When do you plan on making a decision for college?
“With my surgery being in June and missing out on July, I’ve discovered that the best plan for me is to wait until Spring to participate in late signing, but if I find a school that is right for me before then that may change.”
3) What are you looking for in a college?
“I look for a strong academic school as well as athletics, because academics has always been something of high value. All the teams I have been apart of have embraced the family atmosphere so that’s also a factor that draws me to a program. As far as location, that’s not really a huge factor, but I do like the feel of big campuses. All in all, it’s important to find a school and program that will help me develop as a person and a player.”
Sela also mentioned that she plans to take some official visits. Stay tuned for further updates as Sela moves along in her recruitment process.
