Carly Smith, Owsley County – After appearing in 31 games as a 7th grader and averaging 2 points per game, expectations are higher for Carly and her Owsley County teammates. The head coach’s daughter, Smith has a high basketball IQ and a very bright future.
Kylie Gayheart, Knott Central – Similar to Smith, Gayheart played in 32 games as a 7th grader last season and averaged 2.2 points per game. After graduating Jada Higgins, Kylie is going to be expected to play a much larger role as an 8th grader.
Trinity Rowe, Pikeville – Rowe scored a scholarship offer from Pikeville over the summer. I believe she’s the only 2024 in Kentucky with a scholarship offer at this time. Trinity scored 3.3 points per game last year and should come closer to triple that this year.
Allie Dillon, Montgomery County – As a 7th grader, Allie was third on the team at Montgomery with 8 points per game and chipped in 2.7 rebounds per game. Dillon is expected to be one of the top scoring 8th graders in Kentucky in the season ahead.
Brynlee Foster, Middlesboro – Foster was a standout at the Elite 80 event last weekend and looks primed to be a solid scoring guard for the Jackets this season after getting on the floor in 14 games last season.
Payton Acey, Southwestern – Acey averaged 5.9 points and 5.6 rebounds per game for Somerset last year and will play for Southwestern this year. Payton was one of the top players at the Elite 80 event and should be a valuable contributor for the 2019 State Runners-Up.
Kyera Thornsbury, Belfry – Thornsbury returns for another varsity season for Belfry after scoring 5.5 points per game last in the 2018-19 season. She made 5 out of 10 threes last season and should take and make a lot more in her 8th grade year.
