Because of that expectations will be high for another good year. Coach McQuiston’s Team was 5-5 in the conference and finished 3rd. They should be able to make their way up the standings and hope to give Breese Central a run for the crown.
Here are some of the players that will lead the way:
- Ellie Eichenlaub is a 6’1 2020 4/5. Ellie is a long active player that does very well around the rim. She has range out to 15 where she can hit her shot consistently. Ellie is a very good defender as she is very vocal and puts herself in the right spots. She averaged 9 points and 8.4 rebounds per game last year. Ellie will have an even bigger role this year so hopefully she can increase her scoring. Ellie is a dream candidate for a smaller college as she maxed the ACT with a 36. Definitely one to watch.
- Haley Kimes is a 5’7 2020 point guard. Haley is an excellent athlete that plays very hard. She is a good ball handler and is very unselfish. She is very quick so she can get into the lane where she does a good job of feeding the post. Haley can score in the lane and has worked very hard to improve her 3 point shot. She is looking to have a big senior year.
- Abby Holcomb is a 5’10 2021 wing. Abby is a good ball handler that provides excellent scoring for the team. She can hit the outside shots and can also get to the rim. Abby uses her height and length to finish well in the lane. She is the best defender on the team. Because of her length and athletic ability she can guard almost anyone on the floor. Abby is another player that can play at the next level and should be monitored.
- Maddy Schwemmer is a 5’7 2022 wing. Maddy started 6 games last year and was the first person off the bench in almost every other game. She will step into a starting role this year and being another scorer to the lineup. Maddy is a very smooth shooter and deceptively athletic. She is explosive off the dribble and strong. This allows her to get into the lane and score when teams don’t expect it.
- Mya Gebke is a 5’9 2021 forward. Mya has a very good summer looking to continue her success at the end of the season. She is long and is able to get her hands on the ball to cause deflections. Mya is able to also go get rebounds out of her area and secure the possession.
There are 3 freshman the are expected to play a significant role on the team. They are:
- Bella Borja is a 5’9 forward that finishes well around the rim. Bella is long and runs the floor well. She can often beat her defender down the floor for easy baskets. Bella is a good passer that should be able to help inside.
- Kylie Kisgen is a 5’4 point guard that is quick and handles it well. She is most likely a back up this year that ultimately replaces Kimes next year. Kylie is very tough for her size and is a good defender. She will bring energy from the bench and some scoring.
- Natalie Peterson is a 5’10 wing that brings the ability to play inside and out. She is a very smart player for her age and really plays well without the ball. This will provide her a good opportunity to compliment the team without needing to control the ball.
