Continue ReadingOctober 27th was our first Prep Girls Hoops Top 250 Expo in Iowa. It was the last of four this fall and we had an insane amount of talented players in the gym. We will be finishing up our Expo reviews today with the last two teams. Up next is a look at Team 15 from the Expo.
Amanda Treptow – 5’4 PG – 2022 – Jesup HS (IA)
Treptow is a very smart point guard who really looks to push the ball up the floor. She is fluid with the ball in her hands and has the ability to find open teammates with ease. Treptow does need to gain strength but her length allows her to play defense sufficiently. Treptow had a good showing at the Top 250. (Featured Photo)
Trinity Cheatom – 5’5 PG – 2022 – Roosevelt HS (IA)
Cheatom is a very quick point guard who has consistently been getting better. She shot the ball really well at the Expo and she seems as if she has gotten quicker. Her fast hands allow her to poke the ball away from her man and she can turn steals into points fairly fast. Look for Cheatom to have a big year at Roosevelt.
Bryar Duwe – 5’7 G – 2023 – Decorah HS (IA)
Duwe is a very physical combo guard who can play both on and off the ball. She’s very tough and that was evident on Sunday at the Top 250. Duwe is always going to be on the floor going after loose balls for her team. She showed that she can both distribute and score the ball at the Expo. She’s among the best 2023’s in the class.
Katie Keitges – 5’8 SG – 2020 – Knoxville HS (IA)
Keitges is one of the top shooters in the state and she showed that willingness to shoot on Sunday at the Expo. She is a very good shooter off-the-catch but she was also showing her ability to get into the lane and score as well at the event. I look for Keitges to continue scoring the ball at a high level this upcoming season.
Grace Stephenson – 5’8 SF – 2023 – Marion HS (IA)
Marion has a host of very good freshmen coming into the fray this year and Stephenson is one of them. She’s a mobile wing who can create for herself and others. Stephenson showed the willingness to play both inside and outside at the event and I think that’s a product of her versatility. I think down the road she’s going to be a stud at Marion.
Jenna LaDage – 5’9 SF – 2020 – Solon HS (IA)
LaDage was one of the uncommitted 2020’s at the event and she played really well. Coaches were continually asking about her and expressing that she played well. She’s a bit of a Swiss Army knife because she does so much really well on the floor. LaDage played really well at the Expo and showed a lot of improvement from last season.
Nicole Storck – 5’10 F – 2023 – ADM HS (IA)
Storck is a very interesting player because of her versatility and athleticism at the forward spot. She impressed during AAU and she played very well at the Expo against some very good upperclass competition. She can score on the block but also stretch it out and score. She was one of the most impressive 2023’s at the event.
Ella Bockenstedt – 5’11 F – 2023 – Marion HS (IA)
Bockenstedt is a thin forward who has a high basketball IQ and can really get things going on the offensive end of the floor. She moves without the ball really well and puts herself in good spots to receive the ball to score. I look for her to have a big year for Marion this year and will likely see the floor rather quickly.
Ava Meyer – 6′ PF – 2023 – Iowa City Liberty HS (IA)
Meyer is a very thin forward who will need to gain strength going forward. However, she does play the game at a high level and generally knows what plays to make on the floor. With her height, she is going to be a sought after player at the next level. I really like her ability to rebound and crash the boards. Meyer also proved that she is a very good outlet passer.
Lexi Boles – 6’1 C – 2021 – Dowling Catholic HS (IA)
Boles might have been the player who impressed me the most at the event. She played with a high motor the entire day and scored the ball well at all three levels. She rebounded well and played very solid defense. Her effort at the Expo is certainly going to move her up the new 2021 rankings as they come out this week.
