She is coming off of a productive Junior season and a strong AAU season with Next Level Eclipse Blue Star. Camille Evans is looking to build off of her summer by having a Sensational Senior Season.
Her biggest motivation is her Mom because of all the sacrifices her Mom makes for her siblings and her. Shopping is her favorite hobby outside of playing basketball. Rod Wave is Camille’s favorite music artist right now and her favorite color is yellow. When I asked her who her favorite athlete was she told me it is Kyrie Irving. I also asked Evans, What are your strengths on the court? Here’s her answer; “My biggest strength is being a playmaker. Whether it’s creating a shot for myself or setting my teammates up.” Hmmm, it sounds like she just broke down some of Kyrie Irving’s game.
Evans is a 5’8″ combo guard that can defend her positions on a high level. She is an elite athlete with speed and lateral quickness that you need at the guard positions to be that elite type of player. Camille qualified for the 2019 Kansas 5A Girls State Track Championships for the 100m(15thplace), 200m(7th place), and the 4x100m relay team(3rd place). It doesn’t matter whether she is sprinting on a track or sprinting down the court leading the break, she gets there fast!
Camille comes in at the #33 spot in the Kansas Prep Girls Hoops Rankings. There is a reason why Ms. Evans is a Top 50 Prospect in our Kansas Rankings. She’s a leader, a competitor, she knows how to win and she has the accolades to prove it. Last season Camille earned honors from Sports in Kansas 5A Girls All-State Second Team, Topeka Capitol-Journal 5A Girls All-State Third Team, and Wichita Eagle 5A Girls All-State Basketball Honorable Mention.
Camille Evans is capable of taking over a game, she plays under control and with a purpose. Evans can give you double-digit points every time she steps on the court. She likes to use her tight handles and quickness to get to her sweet spots on the court to get buckets or create for her teammates. Camille is a strong, crafty finisher at the basket and she has a nice change of pace that she uses to keep defenders off balance. Evans has some nice range from distance and can hit the open three consistently.
Defensively Camille takes pride in locking down opposing guards. Much like a pesky mosquito in Kansas in the summertime Evans likes to be a nuisance on the defensive end of the floor. Let’s just say this, Camille Evans will take your cookies on the court, she reminds me of Mookie ‘The Theif’ Blaylock an NBA 2-Time Steals Leader(1996-97 and 1997-98). She plays smart when she plays on the top of her team’s zone defenses and her on-ball man defense frustrates opposing ball-handlers.
