Prep Girls Hoops Michigan recently updated in class of 2020 prospect rankings. Rankings are sometimes controversial, always subjective, and certainly always exciting. When updates occur, eyes are first drawn to the top. So here’s our look at the top 5 in the class of 2020.
<h2>Number 1</h2>
<strong><a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/player/gabrielle-elliott/">[player_tooltip player_id="2478" first="Gabrielle" last="Elliott"]</a> (5’11", Wing, Detroit Edison)</strong>
High school basketball fans in the state need to enjoy her while she’s here. Elliott will play at Clemson next year. Elliott is a master at combining her athletic abilities, understanding of the game, and work ethic. They’ve helped her become one of the top prospects in the country.
<h2>Number 2</h2>
<strong><a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/player/whitney-sollom/">[player_tooltip player_id="23748" first="Whitney" last="Sollom"]</a> (6’4", PF, Hartland)</strong>
Sollom’s game is a thing of beauty. Her footwork in the paint is unmatched in Michigan. Sollom can play outside-in or inside-out, and will ALWAYS crash the boards.
<h2>Number 3</h2>
<strong><a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/player/jasmine-clerkley/">[player_tooltip player_id="126233" first="Jasmine" last="Clerkley"]</a> (5’11", PF, Okemos)</strong>
Clerkley has had college ready strength since her freshman year of high school. She regularly puts up a double-double. Clerkley has deceptively strong footwork and her mid range game is starting to stand out.
<h2>Number 4</h2>
<strong>Makailah Griggs-Ziegler (6’0", F, Wayne Memorial)</strong>
Griggs-Ziegler is out with an injury with no timeline for her return. If he was playing, she’d be in tge hunt for Miss Basketball. The versatile forward is a supreme collection of raw talent. Griggs-Ziegler may have the highest ceiling in Michigan.
<h2>Number 5</h2>
<strong><a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/player/aaliyah-nye/">[player_tooltip player_id="23749" first="Aaliyah" last="Nye"]</a> (5’11", SF, East Lansing)</strong>
Nye is the unquestioned leader on a talented and deep East Lansing roster. While she’s putting up big numbers, it’s her willingness to do for her team that might be most impressive. Nye can attack off the wing offensively, but will also buckle down on D.
<h2>Number 6</h2>
<strong><a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/player/cheyenne-mcevans/">[player_tooltip player_id="126235" first="Cheyenne" last="McEvans"]</a> (5’10", CG, Southfield A&T)</strong>
I included number 6, since 1 of the top 5 is injured. If you’ve watched McEvans play in the summer, fall, or early winter, you get why she’s ranked so high. Physically and skill wise, she’s just dominating her opponent when the ball is in her hands.
