After actively evaluating prospects during the high school season, we now have 425 juniors listed, with 270 ranked heading into the AAU season. Height, size, speed, athleticism, fundamental skill development, the position a player is projected to play at the next level, and performance in different competitive settings are all taken into account. Our goal with every class is to accurately group prospects into the correct categories of college potential/projection. By the end of senior year, each class breaks down into clear categories: Power Four/D1+, D1/D2+, D2/NAIA+/D3+/JUCO+, NAIA/D3/JUCO, and NAIA/D3 reserve. As I've written many times, the levels of college basketball intersect, cross, and differ in competitive ability throughout all the divisions. All high school classes do not have the same size, talent, or level of college talent. However, based on my tracking of commitments the past three years, there appears to be a predictable trend in Michigan.

Taking data from the 2024, 2025, and 2026 classes into consideration, there could be approximately 410 prospects per grade who can play some level of college basketball. There will always be multisport athletes who don't play travel basketball or play in some remote area where we just don't get the opportunity to identify them for our rankings, despite our best efforts. Using averages from the past three classes, my expectations moving forward are that there could be anywhere from 10-20 D1 commits, 20-30 D2 commits, and 125-140 NAIA/D3/JUCO commits in a particular class. Applying that understanding to our rankings basically means that, depending on the class, the top 20 ranked prospects project as D1/D2+, 21-50 D2/NAIA+/D3+/JUCO+, 51 and beyond could range anywhere from NAIA/D3 varsity, NAIA/D3 reserve, or JUCO, depending on the college program.

McKynley received First Team All-Conference honors after another noteworthy season at Michigan Center. She plays up-tempo basketball, excels as a facilitator, disrupts opposing guards with her ball pressure, fires passes to open teammates on a rope, buries open threes, and has an extra burst when she drives to the basket. McKynley knows how to play without the ball, spaces the floor, and makes good backdoor cuts. She holds an offer from Davenport.

Naimah received CHSL Second Team honors, having an outstanding junior year for Farmington Hills Mercy. She averaged a productive 11.3 points (36% 3PT), 3.2 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game. Naimah creates space with her shifty crossover combos, penetrates gaps with an explosive burst, and can finish without slowing down. She's a threat from three, creates wide-open looks for teammates by drawing help defenders, makes strong passes, turns ball-handlers with her perimeter pressure, and looks to score in transition.

South Haven secured a third straight SAC-Lakeshore title with an undefeated conference record. Ly' Nique was their ring leader, receiving First Team All-Conference honors and recognition as D2 AP All-State. The numbers speak for themselves: 24 points, 5.9 steals, 5.7 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game. Ly'Nique posted a season high 42 points against Buchanan and also eclipsed the 1,000 point threshold. She's athletic, strong, a two-way difference maker, can score at all levels, and has great ball-handling control.

Rihanna stepped up for Detroit Edison in marquee matchups throughout the season. She's athletic, has advanced ball-handling control and dribble combinations, good balance, finishing dexterity on both sides of the basket, excellent court vision, and is a threat from beyond the arc. Rihanna should be on many radars heading into her final AAU season.

Jordynn made a huge splash after joining the Avondale backcourt as a junior. She received OAA All-League honors, averaging 21.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 2.2 steals per game. Jordynn was a top performer when I watched her play against Clarkston in the playoffs. She stood out again at the Grassroots Spring Opener, impressing Danyle with her disruptive defense and three-point accuracy. Jordynn picked up offers from Macomb CC, Lansing CC, and Wayne CC.

Sasha earned OAA White All-League honors as a junior for Avondale, averaging 17.2 points, 9.1 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 3.6 steals per game as a guard. You rarely see that kind of comprehensive impact from a guard, especially in the rebounding department. Sasha is an effective slasher, a dangerous three-point shooter, and works hard on the defensive end. Her length, quickness, and ability to be the main scorer or facilitator make Sasha a dynamic playmaker. She holds offers from Jackson CC, Lansing CC, and Rochester Christian.

Ma'raeyah led the Flint Carman-Ainsworth backcourt and received SVL South All-Conference First Team recognition after a notable junior year. She was a top performer for Mystics 17U Chosen at the PGH MI College Tour and holds offers from St. Clair CC and Mott CC.
