Player Spotlight 2020 Emily Dogbaste
Player Spotlight: Emily Dogbaste
High School: The Village School
Club Team: Houston UTD
I wanted to start doing special segments on some of the Under The Radar players and I’ll launch it with a 2020 that has and continues to impress me, Emily Dogbaste. At 5’10 with a college-ready frame, her athleticism, ability to play the passing lane and defend her mid to long-range jumper and can handle the ball from the wing which has enabled her to make some of the most acrobatic shots and me tagging her “an and one waiting to happen”. Dobbaste transferred from Klein Collins and has given the Village School and added not only college player but a player that can come in and give instant offense which is great because whether starting or being one of the first off of the bench, she just brings it on both ends.
I guess you’re wondering, “Hey Sim, why is she available” and that’s a great question that can be answered in a number of ways but the best answer is that she had nagging injuries at the wrong time and that means in front of college coaches. She even had some issues earlier this season but she’s at full strength and watching her drop 4 or 5 long ones in a row a few weeks ago, a couple of them were 4 point opportunities, I knew this young lady was back and at full strength. Okay now you’re wondering what level can she play it and you’re asking someone that actually is an evaluator that has been around before novelty basketball took over and so much nonsense being posted but I have her listed in the PGH Texas Top 100 and she can definitely play low D1 and to be honest, at some mid-majors I’ve watched but wherever she lands, you will be receiving a talented player, a superb student and an awesome person
