Team Preview: Olathe East Lady Hawks

As we enter the 2019/2020 high school basketball season in Kansas. Prep Hoops will preview some of the Kansas City Area high schools. These preview articles will give you details on key players, season expectations and more. In this article, we preview the Olathe East Lady Hawks. The defending Sunflower Conference Champions who posted a 18-5 record a season ago.   Players to Watch Molly Kaemmer, Forward, Senior, (2020) [caption id="attachment_121273" align="alignright" width="150"] Photo Cred: LWJ[/caption] The 6 foot senior is a returning all-league player from a year ago. Molly averaged 11 pts & 9rbs in her junior year and will look to add to her production in the 2019-20 season. Kaemmer has great size and strength on the interior. A great rebounder, with a soft touch around the basket. Look for her to be a key contributor in her final year at OE.   Savanna Perez, Guard, Senior, (2020) Perez is returning starter from last year’s conference championship team. A smooth, crafty guard with great shooting range. Handles well enough to get to her spots on the floor a for mid-range jump shot or to the basket. Perez has a good ball IQ and should be a leader for the Lady Hawks after playing a competitive summer with Precision Athletics.   Rae Richardson, Guard, Junior, (2021) Richardson, among the league leaders in assist a year ago in the Sunflower returns, more experienced in her junior season looking to be more effective for the Hawks. A crafty pg with exceptional vision and court awareness. Reads plays and defenders ahead of time which allows her to dish to open teammates. Good perimeter shooter and can finish around the basket.   Olathe East has returning seniors such as Courtney Kearney & Ally Biddison that will play a pivotal role for this year's team along with key players. Junior, Kaylee Taylor also should be able to step and contribute for OE as well.   Upcoming Games Friday December 6th, 2019 away at Olathe North. (5:30pm)
