Continue ReadingI love progression as much as I love the “show me on the court” but with deceptive statistics being put out over and over on social media, some people still don’t get the concept but the bottom line is this, if colleges aren’t knocking down your doors, you may want to rethink, observe and listen. I redid the 2023 Rankings when in essence, it’s really a Watch List of some of the top players I feel who will play in college ball at various levels once they graduate. Molly Ly is in the Top 25, she’s on Cedar Park’s JV team yet would start for just about every team in the Houston area, Cedar Park is guard loaded and I saw she was a next-level player in the 7th grade, I haven’t been wrong yet in this century
Janae TuckerI added Janae Tucker (Dobie) to the Top 25 after her Texas Invitational showing as well as Savannah Carter (Mansfield Legacy) who put on a show during the MISD Spring Creek Invitational and even though I had seen her play during a club event, cluelessness and laziness on the part of club coach, director, team mom, whoever, if you don’t turn in a roster, you’re just an imposter because I don’t see everyone and usually if I don’t know who I’m looking at unless they are going completely off, I move on and I’m offering full transparency on how I feel about this. The Texas Invitational also bumped Angel Tumbarello (San Antonio Johnson) up after her barrage of three pointers but she also showed a lot more
Jalayah IngramThe Top 20 also had players make huge debuts Jalayah Ingram (Dawson) and Tristen Taylor (Duncanville) came out of nowhere, well actually I had written about both of them a few years back but they are explosive guards that can score and start on their squads. Ingram was in a fall league, her growth spurt was deceptive but after a few minutes, I knew while Taylor also caught my eye a coupled of years ago and with the help of something seldom used by the novices, well so-called experts as well, their names popped up as well as where I have them projected
Amarachi Kimpson
Alexis Cortez (Allen) and Ja’Shelle Johnson (San Antonio Johnson) moved up after events, Cortez in the MISD and Johnson at the Texas Invitational but who really have started to set it off is three others I moved up. Amarachi Kimpson was dropping the three-ball from NBA range while I was trying to get set up at the Lady Bulldog Tournament but she just showed she can take over when she wants. Dalana Carter has already given some OMG moments but I expected that when she was in elementary school and I said she’d set records at Barbers Hill, again, I don’t guess and I haven’t been wrong yet. RyLee Grays has been dominating at times for The Village School and everyone knows “it truly takes a village” but her power, strength, size, and consistency already has her on several BCS shortlists
