Continue ReadingRanking prospects is a difficult, controversial, and thankless task for basketball scouts. Earlier, we took a look at the class of 2020 rankings in a different way – by the numbers. We found key numbers on the list and glanced at the player that filled that spot. Now we’ll do the same for the class of 2021.
Number 1
Damiya Hagemann (PG, Detroit Edison)
Hagemann is one of the top point guard prospects in the country in the class of 2021. She can deliver a pass on a dime.
Number 10
Ella Stemmer (SG, Saline)
Stemmer is an elite perimeter prospect. She has a nice mid range jumper and can hit the 3. Stemmer is slick on offense, almost sneaking into the lane for good looks at the basket.
Number 25
Kendall Robertson (F/C, Lake Orion)
Robertson is a talent in the paint. She uses her length to alter opponents shots and her good footwork to get position in the post.
Number 50
Sarah Marvin (G/F, Byron)
The number and the prospect don’t match. That could be a product of the depth of the class and/or being underranked. Marvin is an explosive offensive player and attacks the glass.
Number 75
Audrey Dreyer (PF, Zeeland East)
Dreyer got off to a huge start this season. She’s a solid rebounder on both ends and can pick up put back baskets. Dreyer could definitely move up in the next rankings.
Number 100
Meghan Marshall (PG, Lake Orion)
Marshall is a steady point guard. She’s efficient with the ball and has good shot selection. Marshall’s skills should translate to the next level.
Number 125
Abby Sobutka (F, Northville)
Sobutka has a lot of upside as a prospect. She’s not a tall forward, but plays bigger and stronger than her height. Sobutka is willing to play a role for her team to win.
