PGH MI Freshman Showcase: Team 10 Evaluations

The 2030 Freshman Showcase brought together a talented group of prospects for a full day of competition and exposure. Players had the opportunity to showcase their skills in both 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 action, giving our scouts plenty of opportunities to evaluate them in different game settings. The showcase also provides valuable media exposure, with coverage from our scouts reaching thousands of views on X and our written evaluations giving players another way to get their names in front of the basketball community. One of the things that makes the Prep Girls Hoops showcases unique is that every participant receives coverage in our articles. My coverage at this event focused primarily on Teams 1, 2, 7, 9, and 10. The Team 10 guard knocked down multiple shots from behind the arc, making her a threat from the perimeter. She also displayed excellent court vision and passing ability, consistently seeing plays develop and finding her teammates. Sydelle was especially effective in transition, where she kept her eyes up and delivered some impressive passes in the open floor.     Lillien showed a nice mix of scoring and playmaking during the 5v5 portion of the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase. The Team 10 guard displayed a strong handle and used it to attack the defense, ripping baseline and finishing with the inside hand around the rim. She also showed good touch with a floater in the lane. On the defensive end, Lillien came away with a steal and quickly turned it into offense, delivering a dime to a teammate for the bucket in transition.     Carmen earned my Showcase MVP honors with the complete game she put together during the 5v5 portion of the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase. The Team 10 guard played with poise and was consistently smart with the ball in her hands, showing a strong handle, excellent court vision, and the ability to create for others. She delivered some impressive passes in transition and made a great read on a drive, drawing the defense before dumping it off to the post. Carmen also attacked the basket with strength, absorbing contact on her way to the rim, while showing she could stretch the floor by knocking down shots from behind the arc. Defensively, she was just as impactful, jumping passing lanes for multiple steals, taking one coast-to-coast, and using her timing to come away with blocks. Her ability to impact the game as a scorer, facilitator, and defender made her my MVP of the showcase.     Alex showed her versatility on both ends throughout the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase. During 3v3, she attacked off the bounce, ripping baseline and finishing for a bucket. Defensively, she used her length and timing to record multiple blocks out on the perimeter. During 5v5, the Team 10 wing made an impact in transition, grabbing defensive rebounds and immediately pushing the pace before finding teammates with well-timed passes. She also ran the floor hard herself and was rewarded with transition buckets. Alex handled the ball well, was productive on the glass, and showed strong hands by securing catches in traffic.     Ellie showed how her length and athleticism can impact the game throughout the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase. During 3v3, she knocked down a three, and that perimeter shooting carried into 5v5, where the Team 10 guard connected on a few more shots from behind the arc. Defensively, she used her length and timing to collect numerous blocks and was productive on the glass. Ellie also showed her ability to start the break herself, securing a defensive rebound and immediately pushing the pace in transition with her head up, ready to make the next read.     Maizy showed her ability to create off the bounce throughout the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase. During 3v3, she displayed a quick first step that helped her gain an advantage off the dribble. During 5v5, the Team 10 guard showed a solid handle, using an inside-out dribble to get downhill and finish at the rim. On the other end, Maizy was active defensively and showed good hands when pressuring the ball.       Kendyl brought consistent energy and effort during the 5v5 portion of the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase. The Team 10 guard played with a high motor and stayed involved on both ends of the floor. She showed confidence with the ball in her hands, displaying a solid handle and good control off the dribble. Defensively, Kendyl was active with her hands and applied pressure, making her a disruptive presence on that end of the floor.     Amirrah made an impact in several areas during the 5v5 portion of the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase. The Team 10 guard showed her ability to turn defense into offense, securing a defensive rebound and immediately pushing the pace before delivering a nice pass in transition. She attacked the basket with strength and showed the ability to finish through contact. Amirrah was also active on the offensive glass, tracking down rebounds and converting some of those extra opportunities into putback buckets.     Kamylle showed a strong interior presence along with some versatility in her scoring throughout the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase. During 3v3, she worked hard to establish position in the paint and also showed a nice touch with a stop-and-pop mid-range jumper. During 5v5, the Team 10 forward did a great job sealing her defender and creating scoring opportunities around the rim. She displayed solid footwork inside and was consistently active on the glass, using her positioning to come away with rebounds.
