The 2030 Freshman Showcase was loaded with talent that will be the new faces of future college recruiting boards at every level. This marquee showcase set a PGH Michigan record with 94 prospects registered for the event, marking our second straight year with 90+ freshmen taking the court. We are truly grateful for the overwhelming support of Prep Girls Hoops and our showcases by the Michigan community. Your support enables us to do what we love: evaluate and identify as many college prospects across the entire state, while providing the best coverage we can to as many players as possible. Our format included 4 hours of games split up into predetermined 3v3 and 5v5 matchups. Every court was coached by college coaches, and they did a phenomenal job working with the players and providing feedback during the games. Let's talk about media exposure. There have been thousands of views of our live coverage on X and Instagram, and our post-event articles will be read by hundreds. Every participant receives a write-up in our articles, which is something unique and special about the Prep Girls Hoops showcases. My coverage focused primarily on teams 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8. Here is a snapshot of strengths I noticed while watching prospects who competed for Team 4:

PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase, Aug. 22, 2026.

PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase, Aug. 22, 2026.

Uriyah gave Team 4 an advantage in the backcourt at the PGH Freshman Showcase with her ability to penetrate off the dribble. She attacked gaps and changed directions with effective crossovers to create driving lanes. Uriyah drove downhill with a burst on a left-handed drive and switched hands at the rim for an inside finish before the help could arrive. She used a quick, low crossover to escape the first line of defense on the perimeter, moved back in front of her defender to shield the ball from any attempt at a block, and finished with a soft touch off the glass. Uriyah forced the defense to send her to the line by driving to the basket with determination, dropped in a soft floater, and showed the ability to finish with either hand. Uriyah isn't afraid to pull it from three and will be an immediate playmaker at Greenhills this winter.

Londyn is a prospect who does everything and can contribute in whatever role she needs to make the team successful. Her complete impact for Team 4 at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase stood out. She recognized a size advantage in the paint, backed down her defender, switched hands, pivoted, and dropped in the floater with her off hand. She was active on the boards, distributed accurate passes in transition and in the half-court for assists, and her anticipation generated steals on the defensive end. Athletic, unselfish instincts, versatility as a guard-wing, poised ball-handler, and a high IQ on the court, Londyn is going to make Saginaw Heritage better on day one.

Katie has length, a high motor, toughness, and versatility that will make her an immediate impact player at Pinckney this winter. Katie had a fierce look of determination as she took a defensive rebound coast-to-coast, driving hard to the basket through contact, and earning a trip to the line. Her assertive drives resulted in multiple fouls, and she converted free throws with a confident stroke from the charity stripe. Katie was active on the defensive end, sprinting back to break up a fast break on one possession and sprinting back to pick off a pass on another. After intercepting the pass, she immediately looked to score and motored up the court straight to the rim for two points. Katie used a swift crossover dribble to get by a defender and finished a layup with her left hand off two feet for a fast break bucket. She had a solid day for Team 4 at the PGH Freshman Showcase.

Payton had a very good day for Team 4 at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase. She impacted games on both ends of the court. Payton dropped in a tough, contested bucket in the lane and took a DHO straight to the rim from the wing with a burst to score a layup with a soft touch off the glass. She blocked a shot on the defensive end and immediately looked to score after securing defensive rebounds. Payton pushed the ball with pace the length of the floor, made the extra pass, scored a layup with a smooth transfer during the fast break, and swiped the ball away in the backcourt for another layup off two feet. She's going to be a playmaker to watch at Spring Lake.

Lauren's high motor, athleticism, and physicality stood out during games for Team 4 at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase. She moves her feet quickly laterally to stop dribble penetration and outworks opponents to secure rebounds. Lauren muscled into rebounding position and cleaned up on the offensive glass. One of her highlights came when she grabbed an aggressive offensive rebound, created the space to score in traffic with a reverse pivot, and finished off two feet. She's going to be a great addition to the Cass Tech program.

London might have been my newcomer of the day. It was my first time seeing her play, and wow, did she make a heck of a first impression. When you play hard from the opening tip to the final buzzer on both ends of the court, stuff the stat sheet in every phase, physically impose your will, show impressive athleticism, toughness, and advanced fundamental skills for your age, that's going to make you impossible to miss. She even had the refs talking about her during games. London created space from defenders using shifty between-the-legs reverse crossover dribbles and maintained a wide, balanced, and athletic stance with her head up while dribbling. She turned on the afterburners to score coast-to-coast layups and floaters off two feet in top gear. London secured many rebounds, fired passes up the court to open teammates, and drilled a silky smooth behind-the-back straightaway jumper from just inside the arc. A few more highlights: picks off a pass, races up the court, splits two defenders, goes up strong for the layup; basket cut catch finish off two feet; jumps up to deflect a pass, scoops up the steal, and accelerates to the rim for a coast-to-coast layup off two feet. The cavalry has arrived for Grand Rapids Catholic Central, and London turned in a complete performance for Team 4 at the PGH Freshman Showcase.

Elle is going to be a matchup problem in year one at the varsity level. She has the height and the skill to give forwards more than they can handle. Elle started the day strong right from the get-go during 3v3. She went up strong in traffic and finished high around the basket, showed her range by sinking a long, mid-corner three, and jumped up to deflect passes on the defensive end. Elle continued to make an impact for Team 4 in games, scoring off two feet, including a tough and-one finish off two feet after a great drop-step pivot. She contested a shot without fouling to force a travel violation and protected the rim by rotating from the help side to swat a shot away. Elle has a high ceiling as a stretch forward prospect, and she made that clear at the PGH Michigan Freshman Showcase.
