Here, Prep Girls Hoops takes a look at several 2020 Forwards.
Alison Crigger, 5’9, G/F, 2020, Olathe South
A scrappy forward for Olathe South who looks to contest shots and play physical around the glass. She makes smart extra passes and can rebound well and is a good defender and can kick off fast break opportunities. She’s capable of scoring in transition and can get to the free-throw line and can score for herself when she’s confident and has an opening.
Maggie Epp, G/F, 2020, Buhler
A scoring guard who can hit shots from outside and score in the mid-range and off the glass. She is quick off the ball and moves well off screens and down the baseline. Epp has a good sense of floor space and understands bowel movement and knows how to get the ball at her sweet spots. She also defends well on the perimeter and can switch off and handle herself at times down low against taller and stronger opponents.
Gabbie Posch, 5’9, G, 2020, Hutchinson
Posch can operate as a scoring guard and connects well from the wing spot. She has good length and a high release to her shot which is difficult for opponents to get a hand on. She has good athleticism and speed and is another do it all athlete for Hutchinson. Posch can make a splash as a defensive player or an offensive one. She is good at forcing turnovers and can come away with a steel and kickoff for finish plays in transition. A leader and gamer.
Sophie Reed, 5’10, G/F, 2020, Olathe South
An athletic forward who can operate close to the basket and on the perimeter. She slashes well and is constantly in attack mode. Reed can finish with either hand close to the basket and is speedy and efficient in transition play. She stretches the floor with her three-point range and has good hand-eye coordination and great anticipation which allows her to disrupt passing lanes challenge shots and create problems for ball-handlers on the perimeter.
Aliana Rodriguez, C, 2020, Bishop Ward
A strong and physical center who is good at coming away with the ball. She is a good defensive presence in the paint who collapses on the ball and fights for position. She is a good rebounder as well and a player who can clean up plays and get second chance opportunities through her activity around the basket.
