Last night lived up to its billing. There were prospects that had excellent games in every corner of the state. We will look at 5 players that had memorable performances.
*This isn’t a “top 5”, but 5 that were notable for a variety of reasons.
Lauren Barton (2020, F/C, Ovid-Elsie)
Barton led her Ovid-Elsie team to a 51-29 win over Durand. She absolutely dominated the paint on both ends. Barton had a double-double with 23 points and 18 rebounds. She also chipped in with 5 assists.
Emily Cline (2021, SF, Eaton Rapids)
Cline was terrific in a big win over Lansing Sexton. She was great on both ends of the floor with 23 points and 6 steals. Cline also grabbed 3 rebounds. She’s quickly establishing herself as a force on the wing.
Gabby Fogarty (2020, G/F, Marysville)
Fogarty was unstoppable against Marine City. She led her squad to a 60-58 overtime victory. Fogarty exploded with 38 points. She scored in every way, from finishing at the bucket, to hitting free throws, to jumpers from the outside.
Mackenzie Egger (2021, PG, Mt. Pleasant)
Egger guided her team to a 45-33 win over Bay City Central. She had an impressive double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Egger continues to show a well rounded game.
Cheyenne McEvans (2020, G, Southfield A&T)
McEvans has shown all season why she’s considered such a high level prospect. She dominated all phases of the game in a 45-26 victory over Royal Oak. McEvans had 18 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists, and 5 steals.
And since the action was so great last night, here’s a 6th outstanding prospect performance.
Alex Long (2021, G, Flushing)
Long continued her strong junior season in a win over Flint Kearsley. She scored 21 very efficient points in victory.
