Continue ReadingI didn’t want to watch Cypress Creek defeat Dulles 76-37 because I figured they’d win big and I really don’t enjoy watching blowouts. No knock on Dulles, they may just make a run if not next year but the year after with a talented group of sophomores so as I used to love to say, the future is bright. I decided to watch North Shore vs Clear Springs, Springs won 51-29 but the Mustangs did make a run early in the so those two squads have already stamped their ticket to the Elite 8, here are six games where the winners will join them
Ridgepoint vs Bellaire- this should be an interesting game, Bellaire in my honest opinion is one of the surprise teams here and since I haven’t seen the revitalized group, I really can’t call it but I do know that Ridgepoint’s Raven Adams. Arleighya Fontenot and Dala Allen are three talented juniors who are battled tested in the playoffs and this should be interesting but I’m going with Ridgepoint
Tompkins vs Cy Fair-Tompkins definitely surprised me a couple of nights ago, not about junior Crystal Smith who impressed me last summer or two of the state’s top freshmen, Loghan Johnson and Flyin Adelye, but their supporting cast who just got after it. Cy Fair hit a three at the buzzer to defeat Westside 66-63, I’m wondering if that was from one of the areas top long ball shooters Amanda Turpin who is ice in the clutch but if I was a betting man, I am, I would fly with the Falcons
Pearland vs Atascocita- on paper, Dede Davis and Elyssa Coleman (Texas) definitely have the edge, especially with the teams depth but always remember that the game is played on the court and Pearland’s Deyona Gaston (Mississippi State), who was dropped significantly in the rankings for whatever reason, no need to worry, same idiots had my daughter 267 at the guard spot before I went off on them and we all know how that worked out, can combine with Kyah Barlow for 40-50 but I’m going with The Taz
Heights vs Fort Bend Bush- Heights Big Three of Sincere Roberts, Tiera Simon, and Gracelynn Alvarez sold me on being a sleeper because they also have numerous players that have showed they can score and defend. The Big Three junior group is ranked among the PGH Top 100 but it won’t be that easy. Bush has some twins, Da’Jah and De’Jah Vigilante who bring plenty of heat while Top 100 Arianna Sturdivant (UTRGV) is lights out from downtown. I’m going with the Bulldogs, that’s the good news, the bad news is that winner has Cy Creek
Summer Creek vs George Ranch-I’m going with Summer Creek before the analyzation because it has my initials, well that and Maliyah Johnson (Texas A&M) Mailyn Wilkerson (Trinity Valley) both played on EYBL teams and ranked in the Top 100, also ranked in the 2021 class is Adaora Nwokeji so that’s their Big Three but they have an arsenal of athletic players that can defend. George Ranch has one of the areas top senior guards, Jaedyn Dunn as well as talented sophomore guard Savannah Velazquez. Junior Gabby Owens has been clutch all season while high flying, acrobatic 2021 Top 100 Amillion Fowler……….
Beaumont United vs Clear Falls- I haven’t seen United but divided we Falls seems to fit because I have definitely seen enough of the Knights to know they will advance, well not a hunnid percent but close. At the Peggy Whitley Classic, junior Alexis Clayborne put on a scoring exhibition again their district champion Clear Springs and this squad is scary with a group of talented speedy guards, like Niah Richard and Samora Watson, scoring threats Lauryn Small and Morgan McGaugh but they have JoJo and Josephine Adegbite is a #BEAST in the paint
