Here, we take a look at several forward prospects.
Olivia Albers, 5’10, G/F, 2022, Cheney
A productive player for Cheney who has great size, length and a lot of potential to her game. albers can score in a variety of ways given her build and looks to connect off the glass and in transition. Still just a sophomore, Albers is averaging 6.5 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.3 blocks per game. She’s shooting 75 percent from the free throw line (15-20) and shows a lot of effort as a scorer both from 3-point range and in the paint. A player to keep your eyes on.
Rhen Calhoon, 6’0, F, 2021, Hayden
A strong forward with great height and an eye for plays in the paint. She’s listed at 6’0 and usually looks to body up opponents and force them to throw the ball away or make a poor decision inside. Calhoon is a good shot blocker and always seems to contest shots.
Kara Koester, 5’10, G/F, 2020, Conway Springs
A strong senior leader who understands how to put her team on her back and score in bunches.Koester is physical on the boards and is good at coming down with the ball on both sides of the floor. She sets the tone with her example and has the size and athleticism to make plays across the boards. Koester is shooting 46 percent from the field, 70 percent from the free throw line and 38 percent from 3-point range. She’s averaging 19 points per game and an impressive 9.4 rebounds. She also adds 2.2 assists, three steals and 1.1 blocks per game.
Abi Schmidt, 5’9, F, 2020, Calwell
A good-sized two-way player who looks to play physical as a defender and stretch the floor with her offensive range. Schmidt is comfortable taking big shots in big moments and shows good handles for a forward, even though she’s most comfortable operating as a wing player. She’s averaging eight points per game and adds 4.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, one steal and 0.5 blocks per game. She’s shooting 68 percent from the free throw line (17-25) and 30 percent from 3-point range.
Lucy Schneider, 5’11, F/C, 2020, Caldwell
A good-sized post player who can make plays around the glass. Schneider is listed at 5:11 and has good length And can contest shots and come down with the ball. Rebounding is her specialty but she’s good at putting up second-chance baskets and scoring when you least expect it. She’s averaging 6.7 points per game and a team high 7.2 rebounds. She also adds 1.5 steals and close to one block.
