Here, Prep Girls Hoops takes a look at several senior sleepers.
Mollie Elfrink, G, 2020, Shawnee Mission Northwest
Another guard for Northwest who makes plays as a rebounder, perimeter defender and scoring option given the right look. Elfrink looks to connect from 3-point range, attack the basket and can connect from the free throw line. She fights hard and looks to make plays with and without the ball. Elfrink scored four points, looked to rebound and had two steals against Derby.
Audrey Gilmore, 5’8, G, 2020, Liberal
Another fast player who is tough and that brings good size to the perimeter and inside. Gilmore plays well on both ends of the floor and has a good understanding for her team’s game plan and is unselfish and looks to score when she has an opening and make strong passes and feed the ball inside. Gilmore had four rebounds (three defensive), one steal and also contributed as offense.
[player_tooltip player_id="90135" first="Taylor" last="Jameson"], G, 2020, Heights
She can score from 3-point range and operates well as a catch-and-shoot player from distance. She has good mechanics and a nice looking shot with a defender on her. Jameson is also a strong and athletic defender who looks to pick up her opponent in full court and continue to apply pressure to the primary ball-handler. Jamison had 11 points, four rebounds, three assists and five steals for the game against East.
Savannah Perez, G, 2020, Olathe East
Perez is a good guard for East who is physical and can connect from three-point range. She has a lot of confidence from distance and looks to continue firing even if she isn’t getting the bounce. She can attack with the dribble and is good at switching in and out on defense. Perez had a tough shooting performance in their round one win over Heights. She finished with only four points in the game but added seven rebounds and three assists.
[player_tooltip player_id="45728" first="Sophie" last="Reed"], 5’10, G/F, 2020, Olathe South
Reed is a nice offensive player who can connect from deep, clean up plays on offense and move the ball well. She attacks the ball and is confident pulling up from distance. Her shot was falling from distance, but she scored well and played strong and competitive defense. She has good size, versatility and good handles. Reed finished the game with 12 points, two offensive rebounds, two assists, and one steal. Reed has committed to play for Simpson College.
