D2 State Tournament Preview Round 1 GAME 1: Oregon vs Hortonville TIME: 1:35 PM [caption id="attachment_136143" align="alignright" width="222"] McGlone[/caption] KEY PLAYERS FOR HORTONVILLE: Hortonville is packed with talent this season. The team is so hard to defend as there are so many standout players. Leading the team in scoring this season is 6’2 forward [player_tooltip player_id="132417" first="Macy" last="McGlone"]. The UW- Milwaukee commit is putting up huge numbers this season. She is averaging 17.3 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. McGlone is very dynamic on both ends of the floor. She can guard almost any spot on defense and play any position offensively. She’s strong in the lane but also super crafty and bouncy on the perimeter. McGlone is an rebounding specialist and has over 100 offensive rebounds this season. She does a really nice job working with her guards. Kamy Pepper sets the pace for her team. The UW- Milwaukee commit plays with a lot of poise for a sophomore and has really developed her game this season. She is averaging 8.4 points and leads the team with 5.7 assists per game. Her and McGlone work so well together and are a tough duo to stop. Adding to their stacked line up is senior guard Morgan Draheim. The 5’6 St. Cloud State commit is averaging 9.1 points per game and has been playing her best basketball during playoffs. KEY PLAYERS FOR OREGON: Leading the team is senior guard [player_tooltip player_id="132459" first="Liz" last="Uhl"]. The 5’8 Illinois Springfield recruit has put up some big numbers for her team this season. She’s poise and patient offensively. Uhl does a great job of finding her spot and knowing just when to attack the rim. At 5’8 she’s a difficult player to defend. If Hortonville puts a big on her, she’s flying right by; but if she is guarded by someone smaller she knows how to use her body so well. She averages 15.0 points for her team and has consistently put up big numbers. This season is huge for Oregon, as they finished first in their conference and have a lot of returning experience. The amount of passion and competitiveness this team plays with can be attributed to the large number of seniors. Kaitlyn Schrimpf addes 11.5 points per game. The 5’10 senior guard and Winona State commit is a huge key to their offense. Her mid range game is exceptional and her strong offensive put back buckets make her fun to watch. Running the point guard position for her team is Clarke University commit Izzie Peterson. The 5’6 senior has been the floor general for the team this season. She is averaging 8.7 points per game and 3.3 assists. GAME 2: Pewaukee vs Beaver Dam TIME: 3:00 PM [caption id="attachment_130048" align="alignright" width="196"] Wilke[/caption] KEY PLAYERS FOR BEAVER DAM: [player_tooltip player_id="132341" first="Matyson" last="Wilke"] has been a huge name this season. The top player in her class and division one offers from over 15 schools, Wilke is one of the toughest players in the state. The 5’10 junior guard is averaging 16.5 points, 8 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game. She does it all for her squad. She runs the floor well, and finishes with force at the rim. She’s not afraid of contact and will go right at a taller defender. Wilke is also super efficient from the perimeter and has an incredible step back three point shot. Teams have not been able to stop her this season and it will be interesting to see who Pewaukee puts on her defensively. [player_tooltip player_id="132356" first="Natalie" last="Jens"] has added buckets during some big games this season. The 5’7 junior guard is averaging 14.1 points per game this season. Leading the offense is [player_tooltip player_id="132428" first="Jada" last="Donaldson"] with 9.2 points, 4 rebounds and leading the team with 5.7 assists per game. The UW- Milwaukee commit plays with a lot of patience on offense and works really well alongside Wilke. She see’s the floor well and finds her shot when she needs to. Donaldson has also become a defensive asset this team and causes multiple turnovers per game with her in your face pressure. KEY PLAYERS FOR PEWAUKEE: Lauren Schill has been very successful for her team this season. The 5’9 senior guard is averaging 14.5 points per game for her team. She is super talented on offensive and has great guard skills. She flies by defenders and is a really strong finisher at the rim. She explosive from the perimeter and uses her body well to score over taller defenders. Schill has a lot of endurance when she plays and is usually playing the entire game. She’s also become a defensive powerhouse and has over 60 steals on the season. Beside her is senior forward Vivianne Jende. The 6’3 Northern Michigan recruit is averaging 9 points and 4.7 rebounds for her team. As tall and Jende is, she can easily be mistaken for just a post player. However, Jende has quite an impressive outside game. She’s been knocking down outside shots all season long. Kennedy Osterman, the 5’7 senior guard has been a key player for her team this season. She’s the ultimate role player who takes a lot of pressure off of Schill. The UW- Oshkosh commit is averaging 7.9 points and 3.4 assists per game.
