There were a lot of juniors that had great seasons and great accomplishments. We will look at the finalists for the Most Outstanding Player in the junior class this season, and choose 1 recipient of the honor. This was a loaded and deep field with any number of deserving finalists and award winners.
FINALISTS
Kenzie Bowers Kenzie Bowers 5'10" | PG Kent City | 2021 State MI (PG, Kent City)
Bowers might be the best pure shooter in Michigan. She averaged 20 ppg, 9 rpg, and 5 apg.
Kailee Davis Kailee Davis 5'4" | PG Detroit Renaissance | 2021 State MI (PG, Detroit Renaissance)
Detroit Renaissance has a loaded junior class, and Davis is straw that stirs the drink. She was one of the best leaders and pure point guards in Michigan.
AJ Ediger AJ Ediger 6'3" | PF Hamilton | 2021 State #54 Nation MI (PF, Hamilton)
Ediger is a smooth and athletic forward. She’s scores a lot, but is incredibly efficient in doing so.
Damiya Hagemann Damiya Hagemann 5'8" | PG Detroit Edison | 2021 State #35 Nation MI (PG, Detroit Edison)
Hagemann was the piece that kept all the talent on Detroit Edison connected during the game. She found stars in scoring positions, and even passed them open.
Alanna Micheaux Alanna Micheaux 6'2" | PF Wayne Memorial | 2021 State MI (PF, Wayne Memorial)
Micheaux was a warrior this season for Wayne Memorial. She battled through her junior season, averaging a double-double.
Emaia O’Brien (PG, Chandler Park)
O’Brien was the centerpiece of a talented Chandler Park team and a program on the rise. The slippery lead guard was impossible to slow down this season.
Bree Salenbien Bree Salenbien 6'2" | SF Lenawee Chrisrian | 2021 State #47 Nation MI (SF, Adrian Lenawee Christian)
Salenbien was unstoppable once again. She scored and rebounded in bunches and had her team ready to defend its state title.
Ella Stemmer Ella Stemmer 5'10" | SG Saline | 2021 State MI (SG, Saline)
Stemmer was great all season, averaging over 20 ppg. But if you saw her in the back half of the year, she was sending a message. Stemmer had her Saline squad making history.
Ally VanTimmeren Ally VanTimmeren 6'2" | PF Jenison | 2021 State #87 Nation MI (PF, Jenison)
VanTimmeren may be an excellent scorer, but that’s just the start. She was one of the best defensive players in the state this
MOST OUTSTANDING PLAYER
Jillian Brown Jillian Brown 5'10" | CG East Grand Rapids | 2021 State #55 Nation MI (CG, East Grand Rapids)
Brown has established herself as a premier perimeter prospect in the midwest. Her leadership and versatility was critical for a young East Grand Rapids squad. Brown helped keep her team in or near the top 10 Division 1 teams in the state all year long. She contributed in so many ways both offensively and defensively. Brown averaged was averaging over 22 points per game when the season ended.
