A junior this year, James has shown why she was won Beach District Player of the year and All- Tidewater Girls Player of the Year. The lengthy guard can score at will and being that she is left-handed, makes her hard to guard for most defenders. Not only is Clinton the Virginia Gatorade Player of the Year, but she will be going to Temple University next year to show off her natural talent. The senior guard has made it known the last four years that she brings everything on the court and has a scrappy mentality. From her offense to her defense abilities, Clinton will always stuff the stat sheet and deliver when needed. Temple has a bright star coming their way and great future ahead of them.
Jayla Hearp, Hampton, 5-10 G, So.
Even though Hearp is an underclassman she should not be forgotten on this team. She averaged 12 points and 7 rebounds helping her team to two state tournament wins and averaged 16 points earning 2019 Peninsula District Player of the Year honors. Hailing offers from schools like Hampton University, Old Dominion University, and Virginia Tech this young star still has a lot of game left in her. Being that Hearp is in the class of 2022, she still makes it known that you should not take her game lightly and she will step up to the challenge.
Ja’Naiya Quinerly Ja’Naiya Quinerly 5'6" | CG Chesapeake | 2021 State VA , Lake Taylor, 5-7 G, Jr.
The West Virginia commit is ranked 12th in her position for a reason. Quinerly has elite ball handling skill and great court vision. The junior guard knows how to keep the crowd on their toes with her flashy plays and ability to close a game. Averaging 15.8 points, 7.8 assists, 6.4 steals and 6.0 rebounds she can fill up a stat sheet quickly. Quinerly can take over a game in a instant and many schools missed out on getting a rare talent like hers.
Le’Asia Forem, Norview, 5-9 G, So.
Forem another young talent, has helped lead her team to victory by adding her spark to many games. During the season she averaged 12.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocks a game. The underclassmen has shown toughness through games and makes her mark on both ends on the court. The sophomore guard has a lot of talent and has a lot of time to show us more of what she can do.
