2028/2029 Stock Risers to Watch

As the high school season approaches, several players in the 2028 and 2029 classes are carrying momentum from their summer performances. These juniors and sophomores found ways to stand out and showcase their growth. Here are 7 players to keep an eye on.    Spencer is a strong, aggressive scorer who reads the defense well and attacks gaps with purpose, finishing through contact and drawing fouls around the basket. She can score inside and out, knocking down threes, creating off the dribble, and pulling up for a jumper from the elbow. Her physicality carries over defensively, where she challenges and blocks shots, showing she can make an impact on both ends of the floor.     Harper sees the floor well and plays with patience, whether she is organizing the offense from the perimeter, finding an open teammate, or pushing the ball and creating opportunities in transition. She brings versatility as a scorer, knocking down threes, attacking gaps to split defenders, and using her size to establish position inside. Defensively, she pressures the ball and forces turnovers, allowing her to quickly turn defense into offense.     Jones moves with purpose off the ball, cutting into open space to create scoring opportunities and finding her spots on the perimeter to knock down threes. She is strong with the ball and can create for herself when needed, using a hesi to control the pace before attacking open lanes and getting to the rim. Defensively, she moves her feet well, closes out to block shots, and can turn stops in transition points by pushing the ball up the floor or finding a teammate ahead.     Bowling is a reliable player inside, using strong positioning to keep defenders on her back and create opportunities to receive the ball and score. She pairs great footwork with a high IQ, reading and reacting to the defense, using pivots and post moves to create space and finish over defenders. She contributes on both ends of the floor, battling on the boards and moving her feet defensively to challenge and prevent shot attempts in the paint.     Curry is a versatile player who can shoot, drive, and facilitate, knocking down threes from the wings and corners and finding open teammates in position to score. She attacks the basket and uses impressive footwork, including step-through, up-and-unders, and spin moves, to navigate defenders and finish at the rim. She also plays through contact, rebounds, and advances the ball in transition.     Williams is a skilled ball handler who plays with purpose, using crossovers and controlled retreat backs to create space before attacking the defense. She is aggressive getting downhill, splitting defenders and maneuvering around them to get to the basket and finish. She uses her dribble intentionally with little wasted movement, showing she can create for teammates and knock down shots from three.     Niederer is a fundamentally sound player who does the little things well, keeping the game simple and making smart decisions. She moves well without the ball, cuts into space, runs the floor in transition, and can score from three, off the pull-up, or inside while finishing strong around multiple defenders. She also impacts the game with her court awareness, anticipating passes for steals, crashing the boards, and putting herself in the right position to make plays on both ends of the floor.
