Power Move 17U is returning for their second season on the Girls Under Armour Association. They have added some new pieces and look to improve on their performance in last year's ultra competitive summer league. Coach Terrance Hunter returns with Tim Bender assisting him. Here is a breakdown of the squad. [player_tooltip player_id="136405" first="Kayla" last="Cabbagestalk"], 5’10" Small Forward, Chesapeake-BC "KC" is a long guard with top level end to end speed. She averaged 17 points and 10 rebounds a game so she is not afraid to mix it up inside. I love Kayla’s defensive skill set. She can lock up on ball because she moves her feet really well, and is also very effective using her length to trap. She is steadily improving her perimeter shot but gets most of her points on slashes to the hoop and layups. She is a very physical player with a strong hustle game. She has a mid major offer on the table and will surely add more this season. [player_tooltip player_id="136445" first="Ashlyn" last="Bender"], 6’0, Shooting guard,Glenelg Country School Ashlyn had a strong season and was selected to the All IAAM B conference team. She has a quick release on her college ready three point shot and can also score off the dribble. She is an excellent foul shooter and passer, and plays sound defense. She has interest from Ivy League and Patriot League schools right now. Kristen Sterling, 5’11", Forward, Pikesville Kris is a big time scorer that can bang inside the paint and finish through contact and hit mid range shots as well. She is most known for knocking down clutch three pointers as she is not afraid to take big shots. She can help out at power forward if necessary and she can guard the entire front court. She joins Power Move after a long career with the Maryland Lady Comets. She has mid major and MEAC offers so far. [player_tooltip player_id="136439" first="Lauryn" last="Russell"], 5’6", Point guard, St.Vincent Pallotti Lauryn moved to the IAAM this year and had a good season for Pallotti. She is one of the most dangerous long range shooters in the DMV. Last summer she really improved her ball handling while playing point guard for most of her minutes on the Under Armour circuit. She is a true combo guard as she can slide over and play the catch and shoot role. She will launch from deep so defenses have to honor her range. She can finish in the paint and will attack the ball defensively. She has interest from Patriot league schools right now. Nadia Moore, 5’9", Guard, Winchester- Thurston (PA) 2023 Nadia is a big guard from the Pittsburgh area with a lot of potential. She is physical and strong and held her own last year playing up two grades on the Under Armour circuit. She is on the radar of some D1 schools including one in the Big East. Cassandra Smith, 6’1", Wing, Aberdeen Cassandra had an impressive season at Aberdeen. She was recognized for her efforts by being named first team All County by Harford county coaches. She is a smooth and efficient six footer that shoots a high percentage in the paint and in the mid range area. She has a college body right now and is able to defend multiple positions thanks to her foot speed and strength. She has one MEAC offer and one America East offer right now. [player_tooltip player_id="136425" first="Larrin" last="Sydnor"], 5’9", Forward, St. Vincent Pallotti Every team needs a "Rinny". Larrin is an explosive athlete that uses her leaping ability and speed to defend any position on the court. She is an excellent rebounder and does all the little things every team needs. She has a high level motor and plays with intensity the entire time she's on the court. [player_tooltip player_id="136427" first="Nyshae" last="Weaver"], 6’0, Power forward, Coppin Academy Ny'shae is a big time athlete with an emerging offensive game. She is getting more comfortable handling the ball in traffic and is starting to knock down more mid range shots. She is a good rebounder on both ends of the court and a vocal leader, especially on defense. She has a Big South and a MEAC offer so far. Vashae Rideout, 5’7", Combo Guard, St. Vincent Pallotti Vashae moved from Western to Pallotti and had a solid sophomore season. Vashae is a scoring guard first but is developing her point guard skills. She is a reliable three pointer shooter and gets to the line frequently by attacking the rim.She provided instant offense off the bench for Pallotti and should provide a lot of scoring for this team as well. MEAC and America East schools are circling and she should land that first offer soon. Olivia Harris, 5’11, Guard, John Carrollt Olivia Harris will be playing her first season with Power Move after making the move recently. A big guard with an impressive physique and wing span, she should get heavy minutes in the rotation. Jocelyn Fogel, 5’10", Power Forward, Hammond Jocelyn recently made the move to Power Move after a good season at Hammond High. Jocelyn is an aggressive player that can move bodies around in the paint. She is very quick for her size and passes very well. Smart player that makes a lot of hustle plays. Good touch on her shot. Electra Allembert, 6’2", Power Forward, New Hope Academy Electra moves up to 17U this year after another season at New Hope. She is a transplant from the U.S. Virgin Islands and this will be her second full season with Power Move. She has range out to the 3 point line and will bang inside for rebounds. She picked up an offer last summer from a MAAC school.
