3 Things to look for….
Military Magnet School ( 22 – 5 )
VS
High Point Academy ( 18 – 9 )
Saturday March 7 – 10:30 AM
This is going to be a great game with the youth of Military Magnet in their backcourt going against the returning finalist lead by 2020 – Taniah Wilkins (WSSU Signee) looking to go out on top.
- – Can the Leadership of Taniah Wilkins carry her team to Victory in their 2nd Consecutive State Championship Game??
2020 – 6’0” – Wing/Guard – Taniah Wilkins – is as versatile as they come, she can score from all 3 levels on the court, rebound over taller players & Guard the 1 – 5 position if needed. Last year she put on a great performance during the Championship game but Scotts Branch put a run together in the 4th quarter that denied High Point their chance to hold that trophy. I am looking for Taniah to play within herself and have her team ready at the end of the game to Win.
- How will the young Guards of Military Magnet handle being on the Main Court at Colonial Life Arena.
This Military Magnet team is really scrappy and athletic, they are led by a trio of Guards that have been playing together over the last 3 years+ on the AAU/Club Circuit. 2023 – Rykia Jakes, 2023 – Kaelin Davis & 2023 – Chazmin Bradley – are all very skilled and really adapted to playing Varsity over the last 2 years of competition. Chazmin Bradley has played tremendously so far her Freshman year and is someone that High Point will need to account for at all times, she can get to the rim and finish in traffic. Rykia Jakes is the best shooter of the 3 players and can get hot from behind the arc at anytime, she also is a skilled ball handler in the halfcourt & against the press. Kaelin Davis is another skilled competitor that can find the gaps in a zone and get all the way to the rim, these young ladies are all quick and fearless on this Basketball court.
- The game may come down to turnovers and who controls the Glass….
Basketball is really a simple sport, if you score 1 more point that the team you are playing against then you win. On the biggest stage your negative plays are magnified because of the pressure and atmosphere you are playing in, Turnovers and rebounds are 2 things that a team can control and also things that can kill a team from Winning on this stage. I am looking for 2021 – 5’10” – Forward – Satoya Martin – for Military Magnet to be the key to their victory, if she can control the glass and hold High Point to 1 shot, that would be huge for them. High Point is going to have 2020 – Taniah Wilkins – Hold it down on the glass and with 2022 – Guard – Adiah Owens – They will be the primary Ball handlers throughout the game. This team will be ready but I am looking to see how much fight in them does Military Magnet have this year.
