With Day 4 of the state tournament in the books, we look back at the ten players who had the biggest impact in the six games that we saw today.

<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="134327" first="Maya" last="McDermott"] - 5’5 PG - 2020 - Johnston</strong>
McDermott was a big reason that Johnston was able to handle the Iowa City High pressure and why their guards had such a tough time scoring the ball. She had 14 points but more importantly, she had eight rebounds in the game. While she only had one steal in the game she was great on the ball playing defense.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="134991" first="Aubrey" last="Joens"] - 5’8 SG - 2020 - Iowa City High</strong>
Joens was all over the floor on both ends as she was able to score the ball and rebound it at a high level. Joens scored 24 points and had 16 rebounds in her last high school game. She was all over the floor and played the entire game with high energy. She was doing a great job at drawing contact with her body and just wasn’t getting the calls.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="127635" first="Sahara" last="Williams"] - 5’10 SF - 2023 - Waterloo West</strong>
Williams had a great game in the loss to Waukee. She scored 23 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in what was a great effort by her. She didn’t seem too fazed by the big stage as a freshman. Williams was a big reason that Waterloo West was able to claw back into the game and cut the deficit by 15 points. She’s a highly talented player who played great on Thursday.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="64741" first="Katie" last="Dinnebier"] - 5’8 PG - 2021 - Waukee</strong>
Dinnebier is the steady presence that Waukee loves to have on the floor. In the semi-final game, she had 25 points and was 6-of-8 from behind the arc. Dinnebier is a tough defender and has a high basketball IQ allowing her to be great in the face of pressure. She also had no turnovers with three assists in the game.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="134329" first="Grace" last="Boffeli"] - 6’1 PF - 2020 - North Scott</strong>
North Scott struggled to get the ball to Boffeli early on in the game but they really looked to her in the second half. She scored 17 points and had 14 rebounds but more importantly, she was a leader on the floor. Boffeli was continually communicating with her teammates and getting them into spots to make plays. She was all-around the best player of the day.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="134360" first="Megan" last="Witte"] - 6’1 SF - 2020 - Lewis Central</strong>
Witte wasn’t the highest-scoring player for Lewis Central but she was one of the most important with her defense. She was able to slow the driving guards of Glenwood down and closed out very well. She finished the game with 10 points, six rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Her future is on the volleyball court but she is a very good basketball player as well.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="135009" first="Jaedon" last="Murphy"] - 5’10 F - 2020 - North Polk</strong>
Murphy got her team off to a hot start and very good down the stretch as Dike-New Hartford made their comeback. Murphy scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds in helping her team make it back to the state title game. Murphy can handle it up the floor and was needed to do that a little in the win. She’s a very level headed complete player.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="134994" first="Ellie" last="Foster"] - 5’10 G - 2020 - Dike-New Hartford</strong>
Foster is such a skilled guard with the ball in her hands and she showed that on Thursday in their semi-final game. She scored 12 points and added in four assists and five steals. Foster was smooth with the ball and solid defensively in holding North Polk to bad shots consistently. Foster brings a ton of energy to the floor.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="135011" first="Ella" last="Skinner"] - 6’ C - 2020 - Bishop Heelan</strong>
Skinner was clutch down the stretch as she got her team into the state championship. She scored 24 points in the game and didn’t have any turnovers in the game. While she was very good on the offensive end, she was also very good on the defensive side of the ball. As a senior, you can tell that she is putting it all on the line this state tournament.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="63567" first="Ryley" last="Goebel"] - 5’11 SF - 2022 - Center Point-Urbana</strong>
Goebel’s length was paramount in slowing down North Scott’s offense. She was at the top of the full-court press and was able to slow down the offense of North Scott. She was also a big part in stopping Boffeli in the post with her length. Goebel was able to score the ball better than anyone else on Center Point-Urbana as she had 15 points.
