You don’t want to rank 120 kids in every class and at some point the decision is made that some players will have to wait and show they are worthy of a rankings spot in the next update. Here’s a look at some Kentuckians who narrowly missed the cut for this ranking and are on the radar for the next update.
Kylie Foreman, Southwestern – Like several players who were on the bottom of the rankings or just missed the rankings altogether, Foreman was a role player this season on a veteran team. Now that several Seniors are leaving the Lady Warriors, it very well could be Kylie’s time to shine.
Briontanay Marshall, Central – The leading rebounder for the Yellow Jackets this season, Marshall is part of a talented 2022 group for Central. She has the potential to be a much more impactful player moving forward but needs to continue raising her shooting percentages and being more efficient overall.
Kasey Spalding, Bethlehem – Spalding is in a unique situation where she plays with a veteran roster at Bethlehem but most of the roster returns in the 2020-21 season. If she can improve her three point shooting after only shooting 24% from deep this season, Kasey should be another double figure scorer for the Banshees next season.
Kylie Vize, North Oldham – Riley Neal Riley Neal 5'11" | SF North Oldham | 2022 State KY got most of the headlines this season (and deservedly so) but Vize is arguably more important to the long term success of the Lady Mustangs next season. If she can raise her game another level, North becomes a serious contender in the 8th region in 2021.
Joyce Mukalamusi, Tates Creek – Tates Creek returns a lot of pieces next season off a team that went 18-13 this year. Joyce was a steady role player this year as she was 4th on the team in scoring and second in rebounding but she can make a huge difference in the long term fortunes of the Tates Creek program if she can raise her game a level this offseason.
Makya Grinter, Male – The boys program at Male got a lot of hype this season but the girls team is quietly putting the pieces together for a run next season after graduating a lot in 2019 and rebuilding this year. Grinter’s averages of 8 points and 3 rebounds per game could double in her Junior year if she can make some strides this offseason.
