There are a lot of well-known girls basketball prospects in the state of North Carolina, but on a national level, there are some due to make waves. Here’s a look at five prospects in the 2022 class that were due to make names for themselves this spring.

[player_tooltip player_id="116897" first="Bobbi" last="Smith"] - Guard

Smith had a strong sophomore campaign for Southeast Raleigh alongside [player_tooltip player_id="116847" first="Anya" last="Poole"] (North Carolina) and [player_tooltip player_id="116849" first="Jamia" last="Hazell"] (James Madison) as they made the 4A State Title game once again. She’s a sharpshooter and crafty playmaker on the wing that can do damage when she finds her rhythm. The Carolina Flames squad was set to utilize her and another huge backcourt threat in [player_tooltip player_id="116890" first="Indya" last="Nivar"].

[player_tooltip player_id="116890" first="Indya" last="Nivar"] - Guard/Wing

Nivar is a high-level prospect that’s already surpassed 2,000 points in her high school career at Apex Friendship. She’s a prospect that can core on it all three levels at an efficient rate and doesn’t let up on the defensive end, either, constantly applying pressure on the ball. She was set to make a name for herself on the EYBL circuit.

[player_tooltip player_id="116895" first="Amiya" last="Joiner"] - Forward

Joiner led the Farmville Central Lady Jaguars all the way to the 2A State Final before things were shut down due to the Coronavirus and just finding her stride on the hardwood. She’s a 6-foot-2 forward that can move well in the open court and a back to the basket threat in the halfcourt. With a talented Team Curry group, she would only show off more of her abilities.

[player_tooltip player_id="116891" first="Imani" last="Lester"] - Wing/Forward

She’s a forward that can fill up the stat sheet in a variety of ways with her ability to score, rebound and distribute in the frontcourt. She surpassed the 1,000-point plateau as a freshman during her high school season and on a much more talented squad like the Carolina Flames, she was set to do more damage on the EYBL circuit.

Sammy Ackles - Forward

Ackles is a mobile forward at 6-foot-3 that can score it in the paint and protect the rim at a high level. She put up 13.2 ppg, 9.2 rpg, 3.6 bpg, 1.4 apg and 1.3 spg during her sophomore season at Holly Springs. It would have been fun to watch Ackles alongside Joiner in the frontcourt for Team Curry this grassroots season, but now we can only wait.
