Due to COVID-19 on March 12th the NCHSAA had to cancel all athletics for the remainder of the school year. This meant no state championship games for girls and boys basketball across the state...the biggest basketball state in the country some would say. Here are just some of the players we missed:
Southeast Guilford who are the reigning 2019 3A state champs entered the game 30-1 led by [player_tooltip player_id="116867" first="Kennedi" last="Simmons"] a Winston Salem State University signee.
[player_tooltip player_id="116901" first="Raven" last="Preston"]: (5’10 2022 F) Raven is a long athletic forward who runs the floor extremely well. Since she is only a sophomore she has a lot of upside to her. She was Southeast’s second leading scorer this season, and with a few low-major offers on the table no decisions have been made. She plays AAU for the Team Felton organization.
Sydney Roberts: (5’5 2022 PG) Sydney knows how to keep her dribble alive to make plays. She is tough for her size. She will get to the basket and finish, or can shoot mid-range and 3’s if left open. She plays AAU for the Team Felton organization.
Mya Lewis: (5’7 2021) Mya is a long guard who has a good IQ and feel for the game. Handles the ball well, can get to rim and shoot if left open. Plays hard and potential to be a good defender. She plays AAU for the Team Felton organization.
E.E. Smith the other team in this match-up with a record of 31-1.
Ke’Onna Bryant: (5’10 2021) Ke’Onna is the team’s second leading scorer, and rebounder. She has good size to her and is able to post up inside and finish or get to the line because of it. She is capable of shooting the 3 as well. She is a lefty.
Jada Priebe: (6’ 2022) Jada is a long athlete with good upside. She is long and can rebound and block/alter shots. She is a varsity volleyball player as well so she has got the hops and athleticism to be a good defender at the next level.
Amiah Savage: (5’7 2022) Amiah is a tough player. She plays hard on both ends of the floor. She is a good defender can only get better. Will take it to the basket hard, and can shoot the 3. She plays AAU for the Fayetteville Stars organization.
Tamia Morris: (5’5 2022) Tamia is a hustle/glue player. Dives after loose balls, makes the extra pass, a real team player. She is tough for her size, and with 2 years left can develop into the next level player. She plays AAU for the Fayetteville Stars organization.
