We’re here to answer the question of, “Who are the 10 best prospects in the Northern Kentucky area?”
What are the stipulations? None, really. Regardless of class and regardless of positions, what our top 10?
#1 [player_tooltip player_id="31848" first="Mya" last="Meredith"], Scott (2021) - This ranking assumes that Mya will be back to her old self once she hits the court again. A potential high major recruit before her knee injury, Meredith is the best all around scorer in the state in my opinion and her impact on the court can be seen in how drastic a drop-off Scott experienced this season without her. Time will tell when she (or anyone for that matter) gets to hit the court again but if Meredith is back close to 100%, she’s the best player in the area by a decent margin.
#2 [player_tooltip player_id="88421" first="Brie" last="Crittendon"], Ryle (2021) - This season gave the Eastern Kentucky commit a taste of what’s to come next season. With [player_tooltip player_id="31803" first="Maddie" last="Scherr"] missing some games, Brie became the go-to scorer for the Lady Raiders and ended the season leading the team in scoring and was second in rebounding. When we tip off the 2020-21 season, Ryle will still be the defending state champions and will be relying on Crittendon to lead a very talented team that tends a little on the younger side than they’ve had in recent seasons.
#3 [player_tooltip player_id="88418" first="Marie" last="Kiefer"], Bishop Brossart (2021) - One of the best bigs in the state, Kiefer had a huge breakout season for the Lady ’Stangs. She averaged 18 points and 10 rebounds per game which made her one of the few ladies in the state to average a double-double. Her potential is way up there and Marie is one of the most efficient scorers you’ll see in the Commonwealth as she can score inside or out at a high rate.
#4 [player_tooltip player_id="164390" first="Whitney" last="Lind"], Cooper (2023) - Yes she’s young and yes Cooper limped to a 9-19 record this season, but Lind looks like she could be the real deal. She led her team in nearly every statistical category and she would fit right in at any school in the state at this early age. A 33% shooter from three this past season, Whitney already looks like a potential big time recruit as a stretch 4 or even a face up 5 defending on how much she grows. As her skills develop, she could ultimately be a big wing at the college level.
#5 [player_tooltip player_id="106137" first="Lacey" last="Bradshaw"], Notre Dame (2022) - One of the top slashers in the 2022 class, Bradshaw led her team in scoring and rebounding last season and is an improved 3 point shot away from being a 20+ point per game scorer. Leading her team to the 9th region finals as a Sophomore is impressive and the Pandas are set up to possibly make a run to Rupp in 2021 if Bradshaw and [player_tooltip player_id="31887" first="Macie" last="Feldman"] can elevate their games over the next 6 months.
#6 [player_tooltip player_id="31887" first="Macie" last="Feldman"], Notre Dame (2022) - Effectively the Robin to Bradshaw’s Batman, Macie is a good player and prospect in her own right. The biggest difference between the two is scoring efficiency. Feldman could easily be a 16+ point per game scorer next season if she just ups her shooting percentages. If she and Bradshaw can elevate their games, Notre Dame could be the team to beat in the 9th next season.
#7 [player_tooltip player_id="157953" first="Jenna" last="Lillard"], Ludlow (2022) - Another post player on the list, Lillard averaged a team high 16 points and 7.5 rebounds per game for Ludlow while putting up good shooting numbers. Jenna is on track for a good career overall and should be mentioned more as a legitimate college prospect in the 22 class. Already a capable scorer inside and out, Lillard could be one of the leading scorers in the 9th region for the next two years.
#8 [player_tooltip player_id="157948" first="Lexie" last="Moore"], Owen County (2022) - Owen County is one of the few 8th region schools that I would qualify as Northern Kentucky geographically and Moore is one of the top players in her region. As a Sophomore, she led her team in every statistical category except for rebounding and she should be a solid college recruit over the next two years.
#9 [player_tooltip player_id="164396" first="Kay" last="Freihofer"], Cooper (2023) - Another young member of the Cooper roster, Freihofer only played in 5 games this past season before an injury derailed her. She was off to a hot start, averaging 13 points and 7 rebounds in those 5 games. Cooper went 6-17 after Kay went down and they’re definitely looking forward to getting her back and being part of a talented young core for the Jags.
#10 [player_tooltip player_id="164392" first="Abby" last="Holtman"], Ryle (2023) - Keeping the Batman and Robin theme running, Holtman is going to move into the Beta spot at Ryle this season behind [player_tooltip player_id="88421" first="Brie" last="Crittendon"]’s Alpha. Holtman is one of the top shooters in the area and should continue to advance all parts of her game as she gets a bigger and bigger role over her career.
