Amaya Asher Amaya Asher 5'7" | PG Central | 2023 State KY , Central – A volume scoring guard from the 502, Amaya led Central in scoring last season while shooting a solid 43% from the field. The next step in her game will be improving her overall shooting. She shot 31% from three last year but only attempted a couple per game. When Central nearly upset Sacred Heart, Amaya was fantastic. She scored 28 points and shot 2/4 from 3. If she can shoot 1/3 or 2/5 from three every night out, the rest of her game would open up. Just improving her free throw shooting would make Asher around a 16 point per game scorer.
Briante Gowdy Briante Gowdy 5'5" | SG Campbellsville | 2022 State KY , Campbellsville – Gowdy will be looking for a bounce back season in 2020-21. Her scoring numbers weren’t bad as she checked in at 12 points per game. Briante’s numbers could have been much higher if she could have just improved her scoring efficiency. She only shot 31% from the field and 20% from three as a Sophomore and could see a huge uptick in scoring and overall production if she can raise each of those percentages by 10 points. Where she does excel is getting to the free throw line as Gowdy is one of the top 2022s in Kentucky at getting to the line.
Caylan Mills Caylan Mills 5'7" | SG Knox Central | 2022 State KY , Knox Central – Mills and Presley Partin Presley Partin 5'6" | SG Knox Central | 2021 State KY are one of the best scoring duos in the 13th region and Calyan, like Gowdy, is only a few percentage points away from being an even more efficient scorer. Knox lost 17 games last season but 12 of them were by single digits. If Caylan can make some strides as a shooter over the summer, there is no reason that Knox cannot be a legitimate contender in the 13th region and win 20+ games next season.
Hailee Valentine Hailee Valentine 5'6" | SG North Laurel | 2022 State KY , North Laurel – Speaking of 20 game winners in the 13th, North Laurel had a great 2019-2020 season, winning 28 games. They should head into the season as the favorite to win the 13th region as long as no impact transfers show up between now and October 15th. Valentine gets overshadowed a little by Halle Collins but she is a knockdown shooter who led the Lady Jags in scoring last season and could be an 18+ point per game scorer in her Junior season.
Amaya Curry Amaya Curry 5'6" | CG Apollo | 2022 State KY , Apollo – We started the list with an Amaya and we’ll finish it with one. Curry struggled in her Sophomore year after transferring from Owensboro but after a year to adjust, I expect a resurgence from Amaya. With a year at Apollo to adjust to personnel and a smaller role last season, Curry should be ready to bounce back in 2020-21. The E-Gals return nearly their entire roster this season and should be favorites in the 3rd region. If Amaya can get back to her old self as a Junior, you can expect some high scoring numbers from her this season.
