With every Rankings update, our staff likes to highlight players who are new to the Rankings or have made significant jumps in each class. Here are several from the Class of 2022 who have seen their ranking rise in the newest update:

[player_tooltip player_id="203010" first="Alayna" last="Soukup"], 5’8” Guard, Lake Zurich

A skilled Combo Guard who can put points up in a hurry, Soukup is a constant threat on the offensive end of the floor. She handles the ball well and uses great court vision to make plays in the transition game. Alayna shoots the three at a high rate and uses her strength and athleticism to finish creatively in the lane.

[player_tooltip player_id="124894" first="Morgan" last="Demos"], 6’2” Forward, Benet Academy

Demos is a strong interior Post Player with good length and an evolving style of play that is making her a tough match up for other Posts. She continues to show maturity and control on the low block with solid post moves and her ability to run the pick and roll. Defensively, Morgan is a terrific rebounder and uses her length to create tough looks for her opponents.

[player_tooltip player_id="203012" first="Faith" last="Okorie"], 6’1” Forward, Mother McAuley

Entering the Rankings for the first time at #44, Okorie is a smooth inside Post Player with a great understanding of her role on the block. She uses her body well to seal off defenders so that her teammates can get her the ball. Faith has good touch around the rim and is a fierce rebounder on both ends of the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id="203013" first="Riley" last="Mont"], 5’7” Guard, West Aurora

Mont is a talented Point Guard who makes a big impact on the game on both ends of the floor. She has good quickness and strength when defending opposing ball-handlers one-on-one and gives constant pressure throughout the game. Riley can score at all three levels on offense with a good-looking, confident shot from deep and the ability to get in the lane with ease and finish through contact.

[player_tooltip player_id="203000" first="Ava" last="Bardic"], 5’8” Guard, Stevenson

Entering the Class of 2022 Rankings for the first time, Bardic is a lethal shooter from beyond the three-point line who can catch fire in a hurry. She moves well without the ball to get herself open for spot up shots, or can create shots herself with her ball-handling skills. In addition, Ava does a nice job anticipating the defense and attacking the lane for open looks at the bucket.

[player_tooltip player_id="203008" first="Emily" last="Pape"], 6’0” Forward, Maine South

Pape is an athletic Forward with good strength, which she uses to match physicality with opponents on the low block. She is a terrific rebounder on both ends of the floor and runs well in the transition game, always ready for the ball to come her way. Emily can stretch the floor a bit with her ability to drive from the wing and finish through contact at the hoop.

[player_tooltip player_id="203015" first="Kate" last="Gross"], 5’9” Guard, Downers Grove North

Making her first appearance in the Rankings at #72, Gross has become a consistent outside shooting threat that opposing teams need to plan for. She is a high-IQ player with good length who can defend the perimeter or step inside and challenge shots around the rim. As a talented Shooting Guard, Kate does a nice job moving without the ball so that her teammates can set her up for open shots.

[player_tooltip player_id="203016" first="Ryann" last="Wendt"], 5’10” Guard, Downers Grove North

Also making her first appearance in the Rankings from Downers Grove North, Wendt is a three level scorer with good length and a ton of upside. She handles the ball well against pressure and uses her strength to get in the lane and makes plays with excellent decision-making abilities. Ryann shoots the three well and can attack the lane from the wing and finish through contact.

[player_tooltip player_id="203001" first="Amari" last="Banks"], 5’5” Guard, Waubonsie Valley

A speedy Point Guard with a well-rounded game, Banks does a nice job controlling the tempo of the game and making plays when the ball comes her way. She anticipates her teammates movement and is a willing passer with good court vision. Amari shoots it well from outside and also possesses a nice runner when she gets in the lane.

[player_tooltip player_id="203014" first="Eleanor" last="Harris"], 6’0” Forward, Downers Grove North

Harris is an athletic interior Post Player who runs the floor well and has a good understanding of her role on the low block. She creates openings for herself so her teammates can get her the ball and has a nice array of post moves with good touch and the ability to finish with either hand. Eleanor is also a solid defender, using her long arms to block or alter shots regularly.
