Continue ReadingTheir Junior seasons are starting next month and their 16u AAU seasons are over with. There was a little movement this time around and several new names on the list as we expanded out to 70 young ladies in the rankings. Here’s a look at the updated Top 10 for 2022.
Amiya Jenkins Amiya Jenkins 5'10" | SF Anderson County | 2022 State KY , Anderson County – Amiya remains the top player in the class but the margin is narrowing. Jenkins averaged nearly 16 points per game and showed her versatility as she can score from anywhere and guard all 5 spots. Her versatility is the biggest asset and what keeps her on top of the Junior class. She’s already holding multiple D1 offers and could end up a High Major recruit.
Kennedy Lee, DuPont Manual – One of our biggest risers over the last year, Kennedy is closing in on the top spot in the rankings. Lee nearly averaged a double double at 12.2 points and 9.6 rebounds per game as a Sophomore and should be a double-double every night out this season. She’s already a D1 recruit and could see her stock soar with a big Junior year.
Jaya McClure Jaya McClure 5'6" | PG Christian Academy Louisville | 2022 State KY , Christian Academy Louisville – Jaya is about to be the top option for a reloading CAL team this season. Already holding several D1 offers, McClure may be the best prospect in the 7th region and will contend with Lee for being the best player in the 502 this season.
Halle Langhi Halle Langhi 6'1" | C Marshall County | 2022 State KY , Marshall County – Consistently a top player in the class for a while now, Halle averaged 15 points and 8 rebounds per game while shooting 50% from the field as a Sophomore. If she improves her shooting from deep, Langhi is going to have a chance to be one of the best players in 1st region history if she keeps improving like she has.
Jaileyah Cotton Jaileyah Cotton 5'6" | SG Bardstown | 2022 State KY , Bardstown – After an injury shortened Sophomore season, Cotton is going to have a chance to prove she belongs as a top prospect in a deep and talented 5th region. If she can raise her shooting percentages as a Junior, she could eclipse the 20 point per game mark this year.
Rachel Presley Rachel Presley 6'2" | C South Laurel | 2022 State KY , South Laurel – Players don’t get much more steady and dependable than Presley. You know what you’ll get from her every game out. She should be prepared to be the go to scorer for a talented South Laurel team that will need to replace a lot of scoring from last year. Expect her to be one of the best low post scorers in Kentucky this season.
Lacey Bradshaw Lacey Bradshaw 5'8" | SF Notre Dame | 2022 State KY , Notre Dame – Coming off a Sophomore season where she was only 1/21 from behind the 3 point line, we’re betting on Lacey to have vastly improved in that area. Her college stock goes way up if she can become a 30+% shooter from deep and become a more active out of area rebounder. Bradshaw has good skill level and a solid work ethic. Look for big things from her.
Mia Hale Mia Hale 5'9" | SF Estill County | 2022 State KY , Estill County – Mia has caught the eye of dozens of college coaches and she remains one of the best scorers in Kentucky’s Junior class after averaging nearly 20 points per game a season ago. A “do it all” type of player for Estill County, look for Hale to cement her status as the best 2022 in Eastern Kentucky.
Patience Laster Patience Laster 5'10" | PF Franklin County | 2022 State KY , Franklin County – Laster is a low post bully knows how to use her body to bury defenders on the block and capable of scoring over either shoulder. She put up an impressive 13 points and 8 rebounds per game while shooting 54% from the field last season. Patience is probably the best old school post player in the class but struggles to create any offense of her own.
Allie Stone Allie Stone 5'5" | CG West Carter | 2022 State KY , West Carter – After leading West Carter in nearly every statistical category as a Sophomore, Stone is back and should be even better as a Junior. She’s one of the best free throw shooters in the state and can boost her scoring average even more if she can get to the line more this season. She’s a candidate to get into the 50/40/90 club for shooting percentages before she graduates.
