Kae-Lynn Canales-6’4 P (Brenham HS) @kavewomans
Canales isn’t really a newcomer, I’ve watched her for a couple of seasons and as I mentioned in the opening paragraph, “potential means a lot” and she falls into one of those sayings that were rampant in the good ole days “you can’t teach size” but it helps if you can play. She rebounds on both ends, throws the outlet, and runs the floor. Plays solid smart defense in the paint and has gotten better with not only her hands and footwork but finishing
Advika Srinivasan-5’4 PG (Homeschool)
Srinivasan falls into that “I can’t pronounce your name” but I definitely enjoyed evaluating your game because you just don’t understand how valuable it is to play within yourself, she does and can run a team either by controlling the tempo or pushing the ball yet she thinks the game and showed that “pass first” mindset most of the time, she also created her shot and took defenders off the dribble. Throw in she sees the floor well on top of everything else
Bailey Haas-5’3 CG (Sacred Heart School Halletsville)
Haas is a point guard because she makes good decisions and handles the ball well plus she sees the floor and knows who to get it to and when they should have it, okay that’s part of the formula yet her being “heady” is not all she brings because she can shoot it, mid to long-range and that showed when she was on the floor with other point guards and showing she could stretch the defense was a huge plus
Valerie Edson-5’4 PG (Alus HS)
Edson was solid at running the one, she handled the ball under pressure and showed she make tough passes under pressure as well. When you comprehend the simple things, everything usually falls into place with the right skillset and she definitely showed signs of breaking out for a number of reasons. She can take defenders to the basket with either, she does a good job at creating her shot and she played defense, full-court at that
Asia Shrubs-5’2 PG (Wellington HS)
Shrubs was a pleasant surprise because she has that throwback mindset of just getting after it and either she was diving for loose balls or battling taller players, she was definitely in the mix but she mixed it up nicely on the offensive end and showed she could handle the ball and take defenders to the rim or make the pass off the dribble, both were set up by her ability to create her shot which she also showed she could make yet she also showed solid PG skills and was vocal
Avery McConnell-5’8 G (Eaton HS) @Averyrmcconnell
McConnell used her athleticism nicely and attacked the rim from every angle and straight down the middle but her body control was also one of her many bright spots, especially when it gave her “and one” opportunities. She handles the ball well, she also showed she could create her shot but the deceptive first step worked so well, she didn’t have to use the midrange often yet when she did, it was buckets galore
