Jerica Johnson, North Hardin – Coming off an 8th grade season where she saw the floor in 26 games and scored just under 2 points per game, look for Johnson to be a more offensive force for a North Hardin team that lost 3 of their top 4 scorers off last year’s team. Jerica should have a lot more playing time as a freshman and have a longer leash to play through mistakes.
Olivia Tierney, Great Crossing – Literally everyone on the roster at Great Crossing was new last season as the school opened in 2019. That leads to players learning to play together and some jockeying for minutes. As a freshman, look for Olivia to improve on her 3.5 points per game from a season ago. Tierney should benefit from cleaner looks this year as the talent level at Great Crossing continues to improve in their second season and her talented teammates should be able to get the guard open looks from three.
Chloe McKnight, North Laurel – She got a lot of playing time last season but look for Chloe to be a disruptive force for the Lady Jags this season. At 6’2, she’s only beginning to scratch the surface of her potential and should have her fair share of double-double games in addition to being a good shot blocker. As her skills improve, McKnight is likely to be a D1 prospect down the line.
Mariah Knight, Butler – One of the players who stood out to me at last week’s Expo, Knight has great size and an ever improving skill level. Mariah appeared in 22 games for a veteran Butler team last season and was strictly a role player, averaging 3 points and 2 rebounds for the Bearettes but should be a big part of one of the best programs in the state moving forward. Don’t sleep on her as a potential 8-10 point per game scorer as a freshman.
