The Vegas event featured more Southern California talent as well as some local Nevada players. I wasn’t able to attend the Vegas showcase but I was able to follow along on social media and BallerTV and here are some of the players who stood out to me.
1 Mykelle Richards – Cajon HS (San Bernardino, CA)
One of the main things that stands out to me about Richards is her motor. She plays with a ton of energy and never stops hustling whether she’s chasing down a loose ball or she’s getting back on defense to stop a fast break. She’s capable of playing both guard positions. She has a nice little stop and pop jumper and she can shoot well from three-point range. Solid in transition.
2 Samari Bankhead – 2025 Santa Clarita, CA
One of the things I’ve enjoyed about the BallNGems camps is that I’ve gotten to see players not yet in high school, but holding their own against older competition. Bankhead has a ton of upside and is already close to 6’0. She has the frame to be an elite level defensive player and she already shows some solid reaction on that end. She is a solid ballhandler and comfortable with the ball in her hands. Definitely a player to watch out for.
3 Armanyie Reed – 2027 Los Angeles, CA
Reed is only a sixth grader, but she did more than hold her own against high school competition. She has a quick first step and can attack off the dribble. She can get into the lane with her quickness and she is able to finish strong at the rim against taller defensive players. As she gets older and grows, she’s going to be a handful to guard going to the rim. She’s got the makings of being a solid high school guard.
