The Prep Girls Hoops prospect rankings are all about potential. While there are plenty of players among the Freshmen 50 this time around who have already made a major impact at the high school varsity level, the list of top 2024 prospects includes a variety of gifted athletes whose impact won’t be felt for some time to come. That is true of the 2024 Top 10 we introduced you too on Sunday and it’s true of the next 10 players on the list we are pleased to profile here.

#11 Amy ThompsonAmyThompson
5'10" | SG Stillwater | 2024StateMN
– The 5’9 guard from Stillwater (Suns Blue Star) is best known for her shooting ability which is exceptional. Thompson played for Mahtomedi last season as an 8th grader but now moves to Stillwater where she joins a strong guard lineup that includes Amber ScaliaAmberScalia

#12 Kaylie CoxKaylieCox
5'7" | CG St. Michael-Albertville | 2024StateMN
– The 5’7 combo guard from St. Michael-Albertville (Fury 2024 UAA) is a stocky, athletic guard with nice handles and a big motor. She is strong, aggressive and highly-skilled, a combination that enables her to play bigger than her size. Kaylie is already a varsity veteran but with the graduation of Mackenzie KramerMackenzieKramer
5'9" | PG STMA | 2020StateMN
(Lehigh) she’s sure to play a major role.
#13 Angel HillAngelHill
5'8" | PG Minnehaha Academy | 2024StateMN
– The 5’8 point guard from Minneapolis South (Tayler Hill Elite) is the latest in a long line of talented Hills that includes Tayler Hill (WNBA/Ohio State), Morgan Hill (Tennessee-Chatanooga) and Jade HillJadeHill
5'8" | PG Mpls. South | 2021StateMN
(St. Thomas). She is already a two-year varsity veteran whose game has continued to develop at a steady pace while she has grown and gotten stronger. Hill is a quality ball-handler with subtle speed, fast hands, and a nice feel for the game.
#14 Rhyan HolmgrenRhyanHolmgren
5'9" | SG St. Peter | 2024StateMN
– The 5’9 guard from St. Peter (North Tartan Nike) is one of the best pure athletes in the class. After making a big impression at the varsity level last winter, this was Rhyan’s first summer of AAU ball. With a brief adjustment period to the pace and physicality, Holmgren’s stock rose rapidly as she made it clear that she can compete with the best players in the class. Still raw and developing, Holmgren’s long-term ceiling is very high.
#15 Sidney ReedSidneyReed
6'2" | SF Minnetonka | 2024StateMN
– The 6’2 forward from Minnetonka (North Tartan Nike) is a bit of a sleeper. She spent this summer on the second North Tartan team and has played primarily on the junior varsity for the Skippers. Long and fluid, with much-coveted height, Reed’s selection is a long-term projection that we feel really good about.
#16 Lauren MachacekLaurenMachacek
5'10" | SF Eastview | 2024MN
– The 5’10 small forward from Eastview (Minnesota Stars) will be at the center of the Lightning’s new generation. Long and lanky, Lauren is a workhorse who plays hard, rebounds with passion, attacks the basket and isn’t afraid of physical contact. She can also defend. When she fills out and gets stronger Machacek will be a force.
#17 Taylor ToolTaylorTool
6'1" | PF Delano | 2024StateMN
– The 6’0 post from Delano (Crossfire) funs the floor well, handles the ball effectively for a big and is solid defensively. We saw Taylor make excellent progress over the summer. Her skills are improving quickly and she is becoming highly effective in the paint. She also has range out to the three-point line.
#18 Claire SternClaireStern
6'0" | SF Maple Grove | 2024StateMN
– The 6’0 forward from Maple Grove (Suns Blue Star) is part of a gaggle of rising young stars who will bide their time now for the Crimson but make a major impact down the road. Stern has height and length plus a big frame. She is also smooth and mobile with the ability to run the floor, slip by defenders and get to the rim.
#19 Gabby BettonGabbyBetton
5'9" | CG Lakeville North | 2024StateMN
– The 5’8 guard from Lakeville North (Fury 2024 UAA) offers a nice combination of power, strength, skill and speed. Sometimes explosive, often subtle, Betton is a well-rounded player with a versatile game. She has excellent range and isn’t afraid of the big moment. Look for Betton to have a breakout season for the Panthers.
#20 Tori McKinneyToriMcKinney
6'1" | CG Minnetonka | 2024StateMN
– The 5’8 combo guard from Minnetonka (North Tartan Nike) is a crafty, skilled performer who has shown signs that she will probably end up as one of the premier backcourt players in the class. Tori played varsity minutes last season for the Skippers where she is a part of a talented group that includes top 10 prospects Desiree WareDesireeWare
5'8" | CG Minnetonka | 2022StateMN
