IL Bears Girls Jamboree: Purple Team Review

The players attending the Jamboree were split into 4 teams. Here is my scout/evaluation of the players on the Purple team: <strong>Kameron Adams</strong> is a 5’2 2024 Guard from Harrisburg. Kameron is a young talented point guard that does a very good job keeping her head up and looking for open teammates. She did a good job of handling pressure defense when it was applied to her and showed the ability to finish through contact. <strong>Lauren Heape </strong>is  5’7 2021 Guard from DuQoin. Lauren had an excellent day showing the ability to compete at a high level anywhere on the court. She was tough on the boards and on defense because she knows how to use her strength. Lauren was able to hit some shots from behind the arc in addition to scoring in the paint off high effort plays. <strong>McKenzie Boyd </strong>is a 5’6 2024 Wing from Harrisburg. McKenzie is a player with a very strong build that can play defense and rebound. She did a very good job at the camp of being active on the offensive boards and helping her team keep possessions alive. She is a fundamentally sound player that every team can use. [player_tooltip player_id="148167" first="Laylah" last="Jackson"] is a 5’6 2023 Guard from Belleville East. Laylah was a bit streaky with her outside shot in this event. That will happen but she continued to work on her game off the bounce and demonstrated her seemingly unlimited range. As she continues to improve her ability to find open teammates off her dribble moves the scoring opportunities should increase too. <strong>Jalynn Rook </strong>is a 5’3 2023 Guard from Belleville West. Jalynn is a wiry and long armed point guard that did a good job on Sunday. She is left handed and is good at using her dominant hand with her dribble and finishing in the lane. As she improves one area to focus on is the ability to use her right hand more often with her bounce and finishing in the lane. Jalynn has good speed and agility with the ball. [player_tooltip player_id="194520" first="Tyler" last="Butler"] is a 5’10 2021 Forward from Belleville East. Tyler is a tough rebounder and defender inside the lane. She had a bit of a slow start to the day on offense as she got stuck 15-20 feet from the basket a lot in a guard dominated event. However, once she got herself buried in the post and establishing position as the day went on she had more success. Tyler is good with both hands in the lane and plays with a high motor. [player_tooltip player_id="160143" first="Gracie" last="Heckert"] is a 5’8 2023 Guard from Beecher City. Gracie has nice length and likes to attack the basket on offense. Her length and speed allow her to be a good defender that can pressure the ball and cause problems for players that are looking to pass over her. Gracie does a very good job of finishing runners and floaters in the lane.
