In times like these, while we are facing a brutal pandemic, things beyond basketball become an even more important part of the game. So just as we did in the Senior Leaders article, we will now look at a select group of Senior Heroes. These are young ladies that, when their senior year and hopefully the pandemic, are in the rear view mirror, they will be considered heroes. Heroes to their coaches, the next generation, their community, and in their school. This group of young ladies is miraculous in many ways.

Next year, Brown will be attending one of the top universities in the country and playing basketball at it’s highest level. Is there any better way for her to be a hero? She will be an idol at East Grand Rapids, both athletically and academically.

[player_tooltip player_id="138383" first="Kayla" last="Rutledge"] (CG, Troy)
Rutledge is a perfect candidate to be a hero. If you want to have younger players see a true team player, have them talk to Rutledge. She’s willing to sacrifice for the greater good, and not just in the game of basketball.
[player_tooltip player_id="138326" first="Shealyn" last="Tripp"] (SF, Michigan Center)
