Tionna Pettus Tionna Pettus 5'8" | PF Bessemer City | 2025 NC – Comenius School – 2025 (pictured on front) – When dribbling the ball up the floor, make sure not to get too close to Pettus. If so, there presents a strong chance that ball may be poked out of the point guard’s hands and it will turn into a transition situation. Pettus has excelled at her play on the defensive end by creating turnovers and allowing that defense to become transition offense. Pettus also was a consistent scorer in Comenius School’s game against Covenant Day as she scored at least once in every quarter. When all was said and done, Pettus scored 15 points for the Knights.
Brooklyn Swann Brooklyn Swann 5'8" | SF Huss | 2025 State NC – Comenius School – 2025 – This Brooklyn, dare we say, appears to be one of Comenius School’s basketball queens. The Knights defeated Covenant Day by a final score of 57-46, but Swann’s outing was another case of “it’s not how you start, but how you finish.” Instrumental in the Knights’ ability to finish was Swann’s free throw shooting. Her ability to draw fouls and get to the line led her to be true on three free throw attempts in the fourth quarter-Comenius’ only made free throws in that stanza. Swann also created second-chance point opportunities for Comenius School with her offensive rebounding.
Makailah Davis Makailah Davis 5'6" | CG South Meck | 2025 NC – Comenius School – 2025 – The Knights field a team stacked full of eighth graders that did not resemble eighth graders in the Diamonds Classic. Makailah Davis Makailah Davis 5'6" | CG South Meck | 2025 NC was one of those. And while her scoring performance was compressed to two quarters (the first and the third), Davis still finished the game with 10 points. Davis got it done from all over the floor – whether it was shooting 3-point jumpers, ball handling skills or never giving up on loose balls. She also showcased her efficiency as a passer as well as well as someone who hustles – a favorite trait of many a coach when evaluating basketball talent.
Jaida McClure Jaida McClure 5'9" | PG Providence Day | 2026 State NC – Comenius School – 2026 – One wants to be handling the basketball when being guarded by McClure? Are you sure? Because she too has a knack for getting her hands on the ball and dribbling the leather to the other cup in transition. McClure knows how to make 3-pointers and also had a successful layup against a sea of Covenant Day defenders. McClure finished with 14 points for the Knights and also was awarded MVP honors for the game. Was another of the three Comenius School players who put the ball through the hoop on at least one occasion in every frame.
