Final: Oregon Elite Bronze 33 - Cal Sparks SS24 Diamond 59 Oregon Elite Bronze took on Cal Sparks SS24 Diamond on the first day of Session VI of “The Bubble” as they were tested against a resilient squad from California. [player_tooltip player_id="158523" first="Gretta" last="Baker"] started things off with a three-pointer followed by an acrobatic [player_tooltip player_id="158512" first="Anna" last="Dazey"] reverse lay-up. A Laney Snelling drive drive turn-around tied the game at 7. Dazey had a nice rebound which she threw to Snelling for a trip to the free throw line. [player_tooltip player_id="204611" first="Hallie" last="Romig"] had a nice rebound and bucket and on the next play she stole the inbound and found Snelling at the rim. Prechel got an offensive board and found Snelling for an easy basket. [player_tooltip player_id="158523" first="Gretta" last="Baker"] found the bottom of the net off the inbound from what must’ve been a 25-footer which tied the affair at 17. Snelling found Romig for a triple as Hanne Hopkins had a nice spin move in the paint. At halftime, it was a close contest as Oregon Elite Bronze trailed 22-26. The second half was a different story as Cal Sparks blew the lead wide open. [player_tooltip player_id="204611" first="Hallie" last="Romig"] had a nice jumper as Snelling had an offensive board which she turned into an and-one. Romig hit another three-pointer as Bronze would fall short to Cal Sparks 33-59. [player_tooltip player_id="158523" first="Gretta" last="Baker"] 2022 5’9” SG Oregon Elite Bronze/Cleveland HS - The Cleveland product certainly showed off her range, as she sank two three-pointers - going two for eight in the process. Baker is also an inspired defender who plays with a certain edge and aggressiveness that is hard to match. A serviceable rebounder and two-way player. Gretta contributed 6 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 steal. Hanne Hopkins 2023 5’8” PG Oregon Elite Bronze/Gladstone HS - Hopkins is a high motor player who plays the entire length of the court, especially off the rebound as she is a sparkplug in the transition setting - not allowing the defense to set-up. She is a great offensive rebounder who is relentless in her efforts around the basket. Contributed 4 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal. [player_tooltip player_id="158512" first="Anna" last="Dazey"] 2021 5’7” PG Oregon Elite Bronze/Corvallis HS - Dazey makes a lot of plays for others based on her high energy and ferocity - from saving loose balls to finding teammates in optimal areas around the basket. She has a keen sense of where her teammates are and plays at a great pace. Dazey contributed 2 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals for Oregon Elite Bronze. [player_tooltip player_id="204611" first="Hallie" last="Romig"] 2021 5’8” SG Oregon Elite Bronze/Sherwood HS - Romig is a serviceable guard as she is an eclectic scorer who gets the job done at all three levels - she was perfect from three-point land as she sank two for two. A superb rebounder who makes a lot of plays based on effort alone. Romig contributed 10 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 steals for Bronze. Laney Snelling 2023 5’6” PG Oregon Elite Bronze/Sherwood HS - Snelling is a witty guard who makes a lot of plays based on her positioning on the court - as far as interior scoring and rebounding goes. She has a good sense of where to be and it shows as she displays high IQ and makes plays regularly based on this asset alone. Laney contributed 6 points and 4 rebounds for Oregon Elite Bronze.
