<strong><em>The High School season has kicked off. We will check in with teams all around the state with an outlook on their season and a breakdown of some of their top players. This week we take a look at American Heritage in Delray, FL. </em></strong>
<strong>Team Outlook</strong>
Last year’s team finished the year 15-12, district runner up and a regional semi-final appearance. Falling short in the regional semi-final has propelled this team who returns the 4A State Player of the Year 2022 Wisconsin verbal commit [player_tooltip player_id="91559" first="Jordana" last="Codio"] and two all-county 2nd team selections 2023s [player_tooltip player_id="151282" first="Alancia" last="Ramsey"] and [player_tooltip player_id="151147" first="Taylor" last="Romano"]. Although the Stallions have lost 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="220005" first="Raven" last="Hunter"] for the season with an ACL injury the Stallions have added Miami Country Day transfer 2024 [player_tooltip player_id="219924" first="Khadee" last="Hession"]. The team is rounded out by returning 2025 [player_tooltip player_id="221641" first="Jayleen" last="Nunez"] and an incoming 2024 class consisting of Selma Drucker, Kiara Charles and Dylan Rogers. What the Stallions lack in depth. they make up for in talent and heart. The Stallions return all of their scoring from last season’s team and believe they have one of the best teams in Palm Beach County, as well as the region.
<strong>Player Spotlight</strong>
<strong>2022 [player_tooltip player_id="91559" first="Jordana" last="Codio"] - 6’1 Wing (Verbally committed to Wisconsin) <img class="size-medium wp-image-231802 alignleft" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2020/11/DSC_0046.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="200" /></strong>
Codio is the county’s best overall player and the reigning 4A Dairy Farmers Player of the Year. She can score at any level, great in the open court, excellent passer and decision maker. Her size and quickness makes her a matchup nightmare for any team. Defensively, Codio can guard any position on the floor, she’s an excellent rebounder and shot blocker. The Wisconsin commit is dedicated to carrying her team to Lakeland.
<strong>2023 [player_tooltip player_id="151282" first="Alancia" last="Ramsey"] - 6’0 Forward <img class="size-medium wp-image-231803 alignright" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2020/11/DSC_0049-1.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="200" /></strong>
Ramsey is the real deal. Runs the floor with consistency and can finish through contact. Her face up game has improved greatly during the off season, making her dangerous off the block and in the high post. Ramsey is one of the best rebounders in the county, pursuing the ball with aggression. On the defensive end, she has great instincts and led the Stallions in blocks with almost 3 per game. Look for Ramsey to have a breakout season.

<strong>2023 [player_tooltip player_id="151147" first="Taylor" last="Romano"] - 5’7 Guard</strong>
Romano is one of the best shooters in Palm Beach County. In the district semi-final game last year she knocked down 7 three pointers on her way to a career high 33 points. Romano is a great passer with excellent court vision. Defensively she is extremely quick with great anticipation, averaging close to 3 steals per game last season. With all of the scoring on the floor around her, Romano will get plenty of open looks.
<strong>2024 [player_tooltip player_id="219924" first="Khadee" last="Hession"] - 5’9 Guard <img class="size-medium wp-image-231805 alignright" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2020/11/DSC_0054-1.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="200" /></strong>
Get to know the name [player_tooltip player_id="219924" first="Khadee" last="Hession"]! She is one of the best players in the 2024 class. Hession is a smooth PG with deep range. Quick first step, excellent handle, great passing abilities, and finishes in traffic. Defensively, Hession has quick feet, quick hands, and great anticipation, creating havoc for whoever is in front of her.
<strong><img class="size-medium wp-image-231813 alignleft" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2020/11/DSC_0056.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="200" />2024 Selma Drucker - 5’10 Forward</strong>
Drucker is a hard working, tough nose, old school basketball player. There’s nothing flashy about her game, she just brings her lunch box to work everyday. Fights for rebounds, solid passing abilities, can stretch the defense, and plays hard. Great addition for the Stallions.
<strong>2024 Kiara Charles - 5’7 Guard <img class="size-medium wp-image-231807 alignright" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2020/11/DSC_0045.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="200" /></strong>
Another player for the Stallions that just gets the job done. Deceptively quick first step and attacks hard. Will hit the open three on kick outs. Charles is a solid defender with the potential to be a great defender. Strong body, who can post up smaller guards. She’s not afraid to get in there and mix it up with bigger stronger players. Charles will help the Stallions fill a much needed role.
<strong><img class="size-medium wp-image-231809 alignleft" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2020/11/DSC_0055.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="200" />2024 Dylan Rogers - 5’5 Guard</strong>
Roger is another addition to the Stallions team. High energy player, loves to compete. Plays hard on both ends of the floor.
<strong>2025 Jayleen Nuñez - 5’4 Guard <img class="size-medium wp-image-231808 alignright" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2020/11/DSC_0063-2.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="200" /></strong>
Jayleen returns to the Stallions after an excellent 7th grade campaign. The savvy guard comes in bigger and stronger for the 20-21 season. Solid pull up jumper and floater in the lane. Can hit the open three. Penetrates hard with good court vision. Only in 8th grade but she could see significant minutes on a team lacking depth. Nuñez has a bright future ahead with the Stallions.
We will look to cover the entire state. If you would like us to do a preview or scouting report on your team, just email me at WholeyPrepHoops@gmail.com.
