North Polk reached the Class 3A state title game last year, but the Comets will be replacing several key pieces to that unit this winter. Leading scorers [player_tooltip player_id="64745" first="Maggie" last="Phipps"] and [player_tooltip player_id="135009" first="Jaedon" last="Murphy"] are gone, as Phipps transferred and Murphy is now at Wartburg. Junior [player_tooltip player_id="129004" first="Lucy" last="Schaffer"] returns after scoring nearly 11 points per game along with seniors Hannah Foster and [player_tooltip player_id="131170" first="Abi" last="Zimmer"]. Sophomore [player_tooltip player_id="63011" first="Makayla" last="Boatman"] will be a name to remember after scoring nearly 10 points and shooting over 42 percent from the 3-point line.

It was a perfect season for North Scott last year, as the Lady Lancers went a perfect 26-0, capping it off with a victory in the Class 4A title game over Lewis Central. However, leading scorer and rebounder [player_tooltip player_id="134329" first="Grace" last="Boffeli"] has moved on leaving senior [player_tooltip player_id="164970" first="Samantha" last="Scott"] to carry the load. Scott scored eight points per game, shooting nearly 40 percent from the field. Seven others are also back with varsity experience.

The start to a turnaround for North Tama begins with senior Rylee McLean. She is coming off a year where she led the Redhawks by averaging 13 points a night and grabbing seven rebounds. Classmate Abby Deboef is also back after shooting 50 percent from the 3-point line and scoring over six points a game.

12 returning players</p>
North Union made a deep postseason run a year ago, winning 15 games. Vanessa VonBank now is the leader for the Warriors after posting six points a night. She’ll be expected to do even more with the loss of [player_tooltip player_id="133843" first="Chloe" last="Lofstrom"] and May Laverty. Several others with varsity experience are also returning.
