The Cornerstone University Weekend Showcase has become a staple event in Michigan. It has featured established stars, up and coming prospects, big name programs, and up and coming teams. This year features more of the same, with top teams and players in attendance. The event will be run on 2 different weekends for the girls, January 30 and February 27. Let's take a look at what we can see and expect.

Kalamazoo Christian vs. Forest Hills Northern (5:30PM, January 30)

This will be a very interesting matchup. Kalamazoo Christian features a young squad with just 3 seniors. They do have experience though with seasoned veterans like seniors Nyla deJong and [player_tooltip player_id="175973" first="Avery" last="Ekkens"]. Juniors Morgan Steensma, [player_tooltip player_id="175973" first="Avery" last="Ekkens"], and Madison Ling were all playing varsity basketball as underclassmen. Forest Hills Northern has some high level players and a pretty nasty 1-2 punch. Senior point guard [player_tooltip player_id="175815" first="Morgan" last="Robertson"] and junior forward [player_tooltip player_id="178889" first="Faith" last="Walker"] can carry this team a long ways.

Grand Rapids Catholic Central vs. Rockford (8PM, January 30)

This game has backcourt talent written all over it. Kate Tate, from Grand Rapids Catholic Central, will probably be the best senior on the floor. She's a veteran lead guard that will set the table. Rockford has a load of younger talent on the perimeter. [player_tooltip player_id="147763" first="Elle" last="Irwin"] (SG, 2022) and [player_tooltip player_id="147756" first="Sami" last="DeKuiper"] (PG, 2022) will be a more than formidable backcourt. They also have junior [player_tooltip player_id="178883" first="Alina" last="Anderson"] (SG) holding down the perimeter.

Kent City vs. Saginaw Heritage (3PM, February 27)

I sure hope that by this time, fans can get in the arena because this is a must see matchup. It will feature 2 of the most talented backcourts in the state. Even better than that, they are clashing styles that will battyle to control the flow and feel of the game. Kent City features a record breaker and elite shooter in [player_tooltip player_id="138300" first="Kenzie" last="Bowers"] (2021, PG). They also have up and coming pure shooter [player_tooltip player_id="27998" first="Jenna" last="Harrison"] (2021, SG). Not to mention sweet shooting sophomore, [player_tooltip player_id="194461" first="Lexie" last="Bowers"] (2023, CG). For as well as Kent City shoots, the Saginaw Heritage guards cut and attack the rim off the dribble. [player_tooltip player_id="147773" first="Lauren" last="Gunn"] (2022, PG) is a veteran athlete. [player_tooltip player_id="190720" first="Jada" last="McCree"] (2023, PG) and [player_tooltip player_id="335976" first="Zar'Ria" last="Mitchell"] (2023, PG) are experienced underclassmen and 2 top 20 sophomore prospects in the class of 2023.
