Prep Girls Hoops Missouri takes a look at the top Class of 2021 standouts from last weekend’s Union Tournament. Class 6 state contender Jefferson City dominated the field in winning the championship.
[player_tooltip player_id="106886" first="Kara" last="Daly"] 6’1" Jefferson City: The Mizzou softball recruit is a walking, talking batch of fundamentals when it comes to playing in the low post. She does a great job of sealing her defender, catching and scoring in the paint with excellent efficiency. It’s textbook. She operates well in the high-low set on the block or she can go to the high post and put the ball on the floor as well.
[player_tooltip player_id="162524" first="Sarah" last="Linthacum"] 6’2" Jefferson City: The Mizzou recruit has an excellent skill set to go along with her height. She is a good passer from a high-low set and she can make the high post jumper in addition to her ability to score in the low post.
[player_tooltip player_id="106903" first="Avery" last="Lackey"] 6’1" Borgia: The lefty forward scored 22 points in the Knights’ victory over St. Clair in the third place game. She has a nice shooting touch from out to 15 feet and a high release point which makes it even tougher to defend. She is very mobile around the basket and she can protect the paint well with her length and shot blocking on the defensive end.
Lani Bursey 5’10" St. Clair: A versatile wing player who can play virtually any position on the floor. She is an excellent athlete who runs the floor and can get into the passing lanes on defense and go coast to coast on the dribble for layups. She will also rebound at a high level. She attacks the basket well and can also knock down pull up jumper from the mid range.
